Joe Paterno
has been diagnosed with a treatable form of lung cancer ... this according to his son Scott.

Scott just released the following statement: "Last weekend my father was diagnosed with a treatable form of lung cancer during a follow-up visit for a bronchial illness. He is currently undergoing treatment and his doctors are optimistic that he will make a full recovery."

Scott added, "As everyone can appreciate, this is a deeply personal matter for my parents, and we simply ask that his privacy be respected as he proceeds with treatment."

You guys ridiculous and horrible.. wishing cancer upon a man who had the least amount of involvement in this situation and went to the police... how about you push your hatred on the man who raped children and then those men that covered it up.. Jerry Sandusky, Tim Curley, Gary Schultz .. heard of them?!

You can treat any illness you want.
SURVIVABLE is the key word.
Lung cancer treatment in an 84-yr old man can be brutal.

fahQ! life is nuts and now you're begging for calmness and sympathy. your pops is a greedy mofo! he did nothing knowing very well children were victimized. he didn't want to jeopardize the 3rd most lucrative football program. get a doc to stick something up your dad's ass and check if he's got colon cancer. or, get sandusky to do it...he's into that!

How convenient. I'm sure that given his past salary he can manage to pay the premiums for his COBRA insurance.

Kerry, get your facts straight. Paterno DIDN'T go to the police, that's why people are pissed. He had a moral obligation to follow up and make sure something was done and he did NOTHING but turn a blind eye.

If it is such a "deeply personal matter" nad they want his "privacy to be respected," then why make an announcement? DUMB!!

I wish the Dr. didnt tell him he had lung cancer. He should have said all is fine come back in a year and hid the facts. Oh wait that would be the wrong thing to do!!!

A treatable form? Discovered a few days after it became obvious he did nothing while one of his staff members raped children? Please give them privacy? WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!!
