Natalie Wood Death

Investigating Detective

Never Thought It Was Murder

11/19/2011 4:03 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

1119_cbs_video
The detective who investigated the death of Natalie Wood back in 1981 says he would have arrested Robert Wagner himself if the evidence pointed in that direction, but instead he "never really got suspicious of a murder."

Duane Rasure, a retired detective sergeant for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide Bureau, tells CBS News, "If I have ever the slightest inkling there was a murder, something suspicious, I would have worked it. I did not cover for anybody and I wouldn't cover for anybody. I don't care about their celebrity status. They were people."

Rasure, whose interview airs on CBS tonight, says he believes Dennis Davern, the boat captain from that night, is not telling the full truth and that he is "trying to sell a book and make money off of it."

I think Robert Wagner had something to do with it and I am not a Detective. The police should check what this detective got for his silence

I'm with you, Detective. If anyone needs investigating, it's that creepy, boozing boat captain.

A long time ago, I was really wasted and nearly fell out of a moving truck even though I'm deathly afraid of asphalt whizzing by at a high rate of speed...

Every witness is impeachable, they were wasted, their testimony is worthless.

What is wrong with this picture? A captain who claims he lied to the police. It takes him 30 years to come forth. He claims Robert Wagner killed her and a cover up took place - BUT what about Christopher Walken? He was Natalie's friend before RJ's, why would he of allowed any kind of cover-up? Frankly, I think it's unwise to make a snap judgement call right now; wait for the police to tell us WHY they are reopening the case and if it's ruled a hoax... RJ sue the captain for making you and your familt reopen this very old and sensitive heartache.

About 16 years ago I was at El Compadre on Christmas day drinking and eating with a friend. At another table was a young director and his older Hollywood friend. The older guy told us he knew the "true" story of what happened that night. He said Woods caught husband Wagner and Walken having sex that night and a fight ensued. The rest is then a bit fuzzy but he told us the story as if he absolutely knew it to be true. I believed him 100% and still do to this day. Interesting how the story is again back in the public eye.

R.J. said she went to quiet a banging dingy? Rubber zodiaks don't bang. When 120 lbs. falls overboard besides a large splash the boat will rock, should have been noticeable by everyone onboard. The one person closest to Natalie knew she was deathly afraid of the water, yet he says she left for shore? Conflicting statements from R.J. even back then. So what a accident this cop repeats exactly what R.J.'s website said yesterday? LAPD is known as the most ethical police dept. in the U.S.A.

MOTIVE WAS MONEY .. Robert Wagner made money from her death + the residuals to her estate ever since. His career back then was not as big as hers. Hart-to-Hart really was Stephanie Powers' TV show .. Wagner's always been a 2nd banana / character actor serving as a foil to others. Doing TV ads now because he can't pay his bills. 1st degree Manslaughter or 2nd degree murder. He did not plan it but did take advantage of the cir****tances.

This guy was either stupid and incompetent, on the take, or did special favors for celebrities and/or his bosses. You have to be pretty naive to fall for this guy's story. Lucky for him, there are plenty of people who will believe anything a retired detective says as though there have never been any incompetent, stupid or crooked ones.

Truth

NOT ONLY THAT BUT DONT FORGET THE LAPD HAS A HISTORY OF INTENTIONAL FAILED INVESTIGATIONS, PAY-OFF'S, AND FRAUD OVER THE LAST SEVERAL DECADES INCLUDING THE TIME OF THE NATALIE WOOD MURDER. THIS PO-PO SOUNDS LIKE AN UNEDUCATED SMUCK. JUST CAUSE RJ WAGNER GIVES YOU A VERSION OF THE ACTUAL STORY YOU BELIEVE IT AND SHUT THE CASE IN "A WEEK AND A HALF"??? WTF IS RIGHT. REMEMBER THE DUDE IS AN ACTOR. HE CAN FAKE ANY CHARACTER AND MAKE YOU BELIEVE HE WAS TELLING THE TRUTH. NOW HE WASNT AN OSCAR WINNING CALIBRE OF TALENT BUT TO THIS PO-PO SMUCK HE BELIEVED EVERYTHING RJ SAID. WHAT A MORON. AT LEAST NOW WE HAVE FORENSICS AND MUCH MORE MODERN INVESTIGATIVE TECHNIQUES. I HAVE NO DOUBT WAGNER IS PREPARING HIS DEFENSE AND SPEAKING TO A DOZEN LAWYERS ALREADY. TRUTH!!!

Powerful people in Hollywood suppressed the investigation at the time but now they are all dead so hopefully Natalie will finally have justice.

This witness was interviewed by The National Enquirer 30 years ago. She can't be the reason the case was reopened now.

"She's a small lady she drowned quickly"...nope, sorry Mr. detective, she was found in a thick down jacket. You know filled with duck feathers, lots of duck feathers and they float. It was a slow drowning...old school detective=star struck moron.
