Sugarland Sued

You Could Have PREVENTED

Deadly Concert Disaster

11/23/2011 10:58 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Sugarland sued
The country duo Sugarland is being sued by dozens of people who claim they were injured in a devastating stage collapse at a concert in Indiana earlier this year ... all because the band allegedly failed to cancel the show when they KNEW the weather was getting bad.

More than 40 people -- including the estates of people who died in the accident -- filed the suit against the band in Indiana ... claiming the members of Sugarland had the authority to cancel the show because of bad weather.

According to the docs, Sugarland "failed" to call it off ... putting the fans in grave danger.

Moments before the performance on August 13, powerful winds blew in and knocked over the stage -- killing 7 people and injuring more than 45.

Sugarland isn't the only defendant in the lawsuit -- the alleged victims are also demanding unspecified damages from concert promoter Live Nation, ESG Security and the stagehands’ union.

Pretty sure the fans are fully responsible for their part in showing up. If Sugarland knew the weather was going to be bad, my best bets are that it wasn't a secret only provided to the band... come on now, I'm surprised they're not suing mother nature. Ridiculous.

are these people crazy..how is it Sugarland's fault if they are to stupid to stay home in bad weather..is this the custom in the USA to sue over everything...why cant the judge just throw this nonsense out of court, why are lawyers allowed to take up the courts time with nonsense like this.

Ya know, I'm sorry those people are dead, but freak weather DOES happen. What does that say about the deceased?..should not they have known bad weather was in the area and they went anyway?

hmmm

These people have eyeballs. When they saw the bad weather coming they should have left. You are an idiot if you need someone to tell you to seek shelter from bad weather.

Um, how about if you knew the weather was getting bad, DON'T GO TO THE CONCERT??? Jeez people, it's not their fault that the weather got bad. Use your own judgement and stop relying on others to tell you what to do!

Prosecutor for the vics-"They could have cancelled!", defense for the band-"They didn't have to show up!", clowns-(whispering to each other),"That's our cue!"

I can understand how they feel, experiencing such a horrible accident. But, and I mean no disrespect to the victims in saying this, it's odd to accuse the band, promoters, etc. of not forecasting the weather when those who attended apparently didn't have sense enough to go in out of the rain!

But since the vendor is often seen as responsible for the safety of those attending (by providing proper equipment and secuity), my guess would be there will be a settlement.

If the band could've called off the show the people could have not went.

You know, it's really sad that people were hurt and some died. But if the people in the audience knew the weather was that bad, why did they still stand there? They are also to blame. Nobody could have guessed a huge wind gust would come up and blow that heavy stage over. This lawsuit is ridiculous.

HOW IN THE HELL DO YOU HAVE THE BALLS TO SUE SOMEONE BECAUSE THEY DID NOT CANCEL A CONCERT BECAUSE OF WEATHER. UNLESS THERE WAS A HUGE THREAT TO PEOPLE SUCH AS A TORNADO OR HURRICAN, FLOOD, ECT. NOT WIND. AND SUGARLAND DID NOT FORCE PEOPLE TO STAY AT THE CONCERT. IT WAS JUST A FREAK ACCIDENT NO ONE IS RESPONSABLE FOR!

yeah, they could have 'called off' the concert, but the "FANS" could have chosen NOT TO GO! I feel bad for the families of those who were killed and hurt, but MAN! People, PLEASE use common sense!

How about they sue Mother Nature?
How about the concert promoters sue the audience for being stupid enough to stand in front of the structure in that weather?

So they're suing this band for not cancelling, yet, if the weather was THAT bad, what a smart person would've did was STAY HOME. I guess the band influenced them to come as well, huh?

I feel bad for those who lost loved ones, but I have to agree with the majority here. They might as well try and sue God, too. Come on, people.
