Comedian Alan Sues -- who starred in "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In" back in the 70s -- has died, TMZ has learned

Alan -- who also appeared in the infamous 1964 Twilight Zone episode "The Masks" (below) -- passed away last night. So far, a cause of death is unknown.

"Laugh-In" creator George Schlatter tells TMZ, "Alan was a dear man and good friend, and a forcefield of energy and laughs. Every situation he was in added an element of humor and danger because you never knew what he was going to do, but you knew it was going to be funny."

Alan was 85.

That leaves Artie Johnson and Gary Owens as the two surviving original "Laugh-In" male regulars if I'm not misstaken. R.I.P. Alan

Sad news to hear of Alan Sues' passing. I remember his appearance a few years ago at a LaughIn Reunion where he seemed like a doddering old man. He seemed like he didn't know where he was or what he was supposed to do. Very sad.

Alan Sues was a very kind and funny man. Some years ago
he came to my photo studio and I did resumé photos for
his publicity purposes. He was delightful to work with
and I very much enjoyed working with him but he made
me laugh so much during the session it was difficult to
concentrate on taking the photos!
