Britney Spears will finally show off her engagement ring TONIGHT -- but before it goes public, she's holding a private gathering in Vegas to give her friends and family the first peek ... TMZ has learned.
Sources close to the couple tell TMZ ... the intimate event will take place at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino BEFORE Jason Trawick's big celebratory dinner.
We're told the owner of the PH -- Robert Earl -- will personally attend the event ... and plans to make a toast to the happy couple.
As TMZ first reported, the pair will then move on to a MASSIVE celebratory dinner at the Chocolate Lounge at the Sugar Factory in the Paris Hotel ... followed by a dance party at Chateau nightclub.

I look at her eyes and I see the damage done by the evil influence of people like Sam Lufti and others. I want them to go to jail for what they did to her. I know her Dad has been a very good conservator and I think Jason Trawick truly loves her, because her Dad would never tolerate another parasite. Jason has gone the distance and stuck by Britney through the good and the bad. I wish them all the best that life has to offer, and most especially, I wish Britney peace. A lawyer commented on another site that because of the conservatorship, her dad has to give permission to marry, buy the dress, etc. Her dad is still in complete control of her. She doesn't even have a choice to be with anyone else.
