'This Is It' Director

Cops Respond to L.A. Home

12/19/2011 11:07 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

officers raced to the home of "This Is It" director Kenny Ortega last week ... after an alarm went off in his home ... and TMZ has learned cops called in a chopper to help search for a possible bad guy.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ ... there was a breach in the garage that triggered the alarm ... and the alarm company notified police.

We're told when cops arrived, they didn't see any signs of a crime -- but just to be safe, they called for the eye in the sky to search for a possible crook ... who may have been scared off when the alarm was triggered.

FYI -- people in the area are on high alert because of a rash of burglaries ... but in this case, cops believe it was probably a false alarm.

To the uninformed bores complaining about the LAPD response to a possible burglary call, the air unit routinely responds to burglary calls as they patrol the city. The fact that no suspect was found means very little if it had been an actual break-in. The air unit many times is the first unit to arrive and has saved many people from the horroe of a home invasion robbery. Most garages here in LA have direct access into the living quarters. We take intrusion into people's homes very seriously no matter the neighborhood. What kind of a response would you want if it was your home? The fact that this non-story hit TMZ is ridiculous. The fact that you are using it to bash Ortega and the LAPD is just stupid.
