Elin Nordegren

I'm So Rich, I'm Building

The Same House I Knocked Down

1/9/2012 5:30 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

011012_elin_nordegren_PCN_EXElin Nordegren is SO rich -- she's basically building a replica of the multimillion dollar estate she knocked down

TMZ has obtained renderings Elin submitted to the Palm Beach County Dept. of Planning, Zoning & Building.  The exterior elevation drawing is verrrry similar to the house that was on the $12 million property before Elin razed it. Both are traditional/colonial homes with a very similar shape.  The drawing looks similar to the 9,000 square foot house that was demolished.

Elin's builder told PEOPLE the house Elin 86'd was 90 years old, didn't meet code provisions to withstand hurricanes, and was infested with termites.

Of course, the house Elin builds will be brand spanking new. The supporting documents describe the house in detail.

-- 9 bedrooms
-- 2 large living rooms
-- huge formal dining room
-- 2 kitchens
-- large pool
-- GROTTO!!!
-- pool cabana with HUGE living room
-- 2 jacuzzis
-- detached guest house with 3 bedrooms
-- 3 guest bungalows
-- wine cellar
-- ginormous master wing with crazy big walk in closet
-- basement that runs the entire length of the house

There's 120 feet of retaining walls, and they are bringing in 4100 cubic yards of soil -- which is an enormous amount.

County officials have sent the architect back to the drawing board for some changes before the plans will be approved.

it's a shame elin caught so much flack when this first broke, and is still getting it from people too lazy to read the details or too dumb to see the bigger picture. even if the house was up to code and in good shape, you naysayers need to realize how much she is helping out the local economy by building this new house. think of all the materials the massive house will need, and all the labor to put it together. im sure the builders and their families are not complaining one bit about having a job to do. nor are the retailers and suppliers complaining about the sales they will get from her.

All the naysayers that were blasting Elin in the last article that was posted about the home being torn down should have known from when she bought the house that it was a very old building, that has spent decades withstanding hurricanes and storms. It was simply less costly to start over, than to make repairs. A smart business decision.

TMZ reporters are so stupid. It's not the same house. The house in the rendering is broken into 3 units, which can make a big difference depending on how she decides to use them.

Infested with termites?? Who wouldn´t have knocked it down if you had had the money? People are so quick to judge!

For a bitch who before she starting playing with Tiger's golf balls was making minimum wage, she sure has adapted well to spending other people's money.

Elin...I cannot even get mad at you...your rolling like the rest of the women who marry men who cheat on them and get caught...It is your money to do as you please and I am certain that you and your kids will never ever be go without....if ever the mood hits you, just for one moment think about those folks less fortunate (due to cir****tances beyond their control) than you and your kids and reach out and give them a helping hand...

Folks get the facts before you shoot off you mouth!!
The house was infested with insects..the caost to remove them and repair damage was more than to build new!!!! She donated $300,000. of usable fixtures to Habitat Humanity

She made the right move. It's a 90 year old house infested with termites and not up to hurricane specs. She has 2 kids to protect. Anyone who has delt with termites knows the damage they do. She is still a class act.

The lot is Palm Beach ocean front property with an actual beach, in the front of the photo that is not shown. Houses in that area go for 30 to 55 mil even in this economy. So she bought a condemed house, razed it and is rebuilding her dream home, probably all for 20 million. Sounds like she a very solid financial decision.

How did the house survived for 80 years with some of the strongest hurricanes in history if it was not up to city standards and how did the home inspector miss the termites before she purchased the house?
