Daniel Radcliffe

Lana Del Rey Wasn't THAT Bad

on 'Saturday Night Live'

1/17/2012 4:30 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Daniel Radcliffe is coming to the defense of the singer he introduced on "Saturday Night Live" this weekend ... sorta.

Radcliffe was at the Bafta nominations ... when he was asked about Lana Del Rey -- who's been TRASHED by music critics and people with ears alike who suffered through her baffling performance on the show (below).

Radcliffe responded, "It was unfortunate that people seemed to turn on her so quickly."

He added, "I also think people are making it about things other than the performance. If you read what people are saying about her online, it's all about her past and her family and stuff that's nobody else's business."

Radcliffe concluded, "I don't think it warranted anywhere near that reaction."

As a professional musician of 37 years and can undeniable certify that this it is a travesty that commercial air time is actually afforded unfortunate major sucking non-musician. She reminds me of the clueless girl in High School that thinks she can sing and everyone boos her off the assemble stage. Sucks is not harsh enough.....other acceptable words anyone?

I think she has a very new, interesting sound- there I said it. Only people with simple taste would despise her sound and performance. Brian Williams loves Nascar- Enough said.

She's more a candidate for training as a singer than an actual singer.

yeah she was bad but how many singers actually sound like they do on their albums? There are not that many really great singers that sound awesome live...Carrie Underwood sounds horrible live...Can't remember the name of that song she sang live at the Grammy's or CMA's one year but it was hideous!!!

I'm a hater and even I don't get it. I didn't like it, but that's just cause it's a *******ong. She didn't really mess it up.

I didn't see any problem with her performance. It was the best part of the show, although that isn't saying much because it is always awful. They need all new writers. She probably would have been more popular is she appeared in a pair of panties and a tube top like too many singers lately.

lol that btch cannot sing..seriously how they go from maroon 5 to this girl. also SNL gets worse with every episode with stuttering during punchlines unfunny jokes, they are begging for laughs..they need to revamp the cast and forget about current events

Probably the WORST SNL 'singer' on the planet.. And, the saddest thing is that she really 'thought' she was a singer when she tried to be all dramatic and sh*t.. Daniell was being politically correct and also probably watched his own performance and realized that he wasn't even CLOSE to being funny... his 'performance' was baaad too.

I think she was trying to remix it a bit cos if you watch her Jools Holland performance then you can tell shes talented. 1 not so great performance shouldnt destroy an entire career.
