Widow of Flight 93 Hero:

Wahlberg's 9/11 Comments

Were VERY Disrespectful

1/18/2012 10:22 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Mark Wahlberg
's claim that he would've been able to single-handedly over-power the 9/11 terrorists and prevent a plane from crashing is completely "disrespectful" ... so says the widow of one of the REAL heroic victims who RUSHED THE COCKPIT on that fateful day.

TMZ spoke with Deena Burnett-Bailey -- whose husband Thomas Burnett phoned her from that fateful flight saying, "I know we're going to die. There's three of us who are going to do something about it."

Burnett-Bailey tells us, "Does Mark Wahlberg have a pilot's license? Then I think hindsight is 20/20 and it's insignificant to say what you would have done if you weren't there. "

She adds, "The plan for Flight 93 was foiled by heroes. For him to speculate that his presence on board could have stopped everything is silly and disrespectful.  Sounds like someone is grandstanding."

We called Wahlberg for comment -- so far, no word back.

Stop complaining about a celeb's irrelevant comments - it is your government who orchestrated 9/11 so get pissed at them for killing their own people in order to push their greedy agenda. Wake up you poor fools!

The fact that anyone is listening to something Mark W is saying is hilarious in itself....and sad at the same time, HE IS MARK WAHLBERG he acts...poorly, why does anything he says matter in the real world?

TMZ you should be ashamed of yourself for making a story out of nothing. You know darn well that's not what he meant. this is very childish reporting. This was part of a long artical in People magazine.

Someone has much to learn...with wisdom comes the knowledge that you don't know what you will do at any given until you have faced any situation, keep quiet about what you think you might do.

9/11 and disrespect are intertwined. Enough years haven't passed. It's good Mark wasn't on the plane because it would have jeopardized the plan. Those untrained pilots were pretty good at hitting the Pentagon.

Just be thankful that he didn't offend any cry baby blacks, jews or gays. He'd never hear the end of it.

I would bet $50 that Mark W. did not make those comments they way the media are portraying them (i.e. they baited him and he just flippantly agreed, or something to that effect). It just doesn't make sense that he'd say that as they've written it, and he's never made comments like that before. Don't be so gullible people!

First off, I think Mark was joking, I don't think he really believes what he said but that being said... it is an extremely insensitive thing to say so he should apologize.

TMZ just trying to get a rise out of people. Mark Wahlberg was scheduled to be on the plane that day. That was the context of the Mens Journal interview. I see nothing wrong with his comments, just stating he wouldve done the same thing the others did. people just dont like the context.

Dumb thing to say? Yea
Disrespectful? No

Gonna sound harsh but...
-9/11 Happened in 2001...
-going on 11 yrs now...
-from what i know all the terrorist involved were jailed and killed..
-Spouses have re-married...
-Memorials have been held...
-Concerts have been held...
-and there was a 10th anniversary last anniversary..

The People who died can honestly rest in peace, they all just didn't die for nothing, Men and woman all around made sure they were not forgotten and died in vain. They Succeeded

But to STILL be sour about a 9/11 comment is just sad on your part. You really don't care, and just wanna make issues over nothing. get over it and deal with it.

TMZ is now off the rocker. You goad people with inane questions, then publicly f*ck them over. Warner Bros should rein you guys in.
This is pathetic. At some point, Wahlberg declined an interview right? and now you pay him back. Keep this up, and hopefully any "star" with his or her salt will ignore you guys.
