Mark Wahlberg

Sorry for Dissing 9/11 Heroes

1/18/2012 12:22 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Mark Wahlberg
is apologizing for saying he could have rewritten 9/11 history, fighting off the terrorists on one of the flights ... and safely landing the plane -- telling TMZ, "To suggest I would have done anything differently than the passengers on that plane was irresponsible."

Mark originally made the comments in an interview with Men's Journal, claiming, "If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn't have went down like it did. There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, 'OK, we're going to land somewhere safely, don't worry.'"

But Mark admits he crossed the line -- telling us, "To speculate about such a situation is ridiculous to begin with."

Mark adds, "I deeply apologize to the families of the victims that my answer came off as insensitive, it was certainly not my intention."

Hey punk, beating up two middle age Vietnamese men doesn't make you tough. Stick to your fairyland badazz movie roles and STFU.

Prince Von A-Hole

Not nearly as irresponsible as T M Z calling the families asking them stupid question like what they thought about this. 99% of them probably never would have heard about it.

There's nothing to apologize for Mark. If the plane wasn't shot down by USA jets, it certainly might have gone down differently if there were more people on the plane willing to take on the terrorists than the 3 mentioned in the allegedly call between Thomas Burnett and his now remarried widow Deena Burnett-Bailey.

Celebrities need to go dark with their ridiculous comments. Hindsight is always 20/20 and for him to speculate is insensitive.

Mark didn't say anything malicious. Why must everything that's said be taken out of context. All it sounds like to me, is that he would've tried to have the plane safely landed, instead of losing all of those lives. He wasn't trying to be insenstive. Wouldn't we all have hoped the plane could've landed safely?

He knew what he was saying, he's just reacting to the negative press, as he should. His comments are disrespectful to the dead, shame on him. That said, it's good he apologized but he's left himself with a marky mark people will remember.

OMG! what an idiot comment to make. I think he is starting to forget the difference between reality and playing a character! How stupid can you be to make such a comment and be so insentative! These actors think the rules of life don't apply to them. Too many of them think they are entitled and some are just plain dumm. It's sad a lot of them are just not impressive.

Another case of the media hyping a non-story and forcing someone to apologize for something he didn't do. He did not diss any 9/11 heroes. He just said what he thought he would do in the same situation. That doesn't mean it would go down that way. And he never said anyone else did anything wrong. No different than you and I speculating about what we would do if a burglar tried to break in our house. That doesn't mean I'm criticizing the way anyone else does it.
