Super Bowl XLVI

Indy's Servin' Up

Down Home Cooking

1/26/2012 12:20 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

0126_superbowl_food_composite_superbowl_exCelebs piling into Super Bowl XLVI (46 to non-Romans) luxury suites better bring their own grub if they want fancy finger foods ... because TMZ has learned this year's stadium menu is loaded with home-style comforts.

While the Giants and Patriots do battle at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis -- Centerplate catering will dish up some Midwest favorites:

-- Braised Buffalo Short Ribs featuring natural buffalo in a classic French braise
-- Heartland Farm Table platter with local veggie selections
-- Chef designed Chicken Pot Pie

Basically ... sushi lovers stay home.

However, average joes in run-of-the-mill super expensive SB seats can get Indianapolis Shrimp Cocktails ... which we're told is legendary -- despite Indy being landlocked.

Oh, and there's a sweet consolation for the NFL teams that didn't make it to the big game. All team owners get a giant jar of mixed M&Ms in their team's colors.

Feel better now, Baltimore and San Fran?

The shrimp ****tail is from local steak house, which is legendary outside the midwest. By the way, Las Vegas is landlocked and they manage to receive fresh seafood daily. It's called an airplane!
Santa Monica area restaurants serve some of the worst "fresh" seafood I've ever tasted.

How wonderful to read comments from Hoosiers about the great food in Indy! I haven't lived in Indianapolis for a long time, but the city ALWAYS had fine dining...since the 50's...and still does! And the shrimp and that fresh horseradish sauce at St. Elmo's is as good as it gets anywhere...plus...the PEOPLE of the city are fabulous! Super Bowl fans are in for a treat!!!!

Sushi eaters stay home? Why do people in Cali think they have the best sushi? Ever heard of Fed Ex? Also, California doesn't have all the fish... being in the center of the United States makes us even better for sushi quality fish because it is not all caught off your coast. Visit Mikado Japanese Sushi Bar (if you can get a table) right on the Super Bowl village and you will be surprised. Good sushi with out the snobby service that defines California. Just ask Jo-Lo, Will Smith, Bernie Ecklestein,David Lee Roth, and Bill Walton to include a few!

Down home cooking? Yeah right.

Here in Ohio my mother used to cook up some 'Braised Buffalo Short Ribs featuring natural buffalo in a classic French braise' every Saturday night.

Condescend much?

Indy is a world class city with world class restaurants (and some bad ass food trucks too!). I'm sure the celebs will be more than pleased with their experience here. Journalists, NFL officials, and "average joes" from the world over are already calling Indy the best host city ever. You would be lucky to eat a pretzel from a street vendor here this week!
