UFC Stud Alistair Overeem

Charged with Battering a Woman

1/31/2012 10:10 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Alistair Overeem
UFC superstar Alistair Overeem -- the guy who beat Brock Lesnar into retirement -- has been charged with misdemeanor battery for allegedly attacking a woman in a Vegas hotel earlier this month.

According to the Clark County District Attorney's Office ... Overeem is accused of "pushing/shoving" a woman in the face at the Wynn Hotel in Vegas at around 3:00 AM on January 2 ... just a few nights after he defeated Lesnar at the MGM Grand (clip below).

Law enforcement sources tell us the alleged victim is 5'4" and 128 pounds. Overeem is listed at 6'5", 260 lbs.

Overeem was not arrested -- but was issued a citation and has been ordered to appear in front of a judge in February.

Alistair's lawyer, David Chesnoff, released a statement saying, "There are two sides to this story and we intend on vigorously defending this. Alistair maintains his innocence."

If convicted, the fighter faces up to 6 months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Roid rage at it finest. Anyone who follows mma knows that Overeem is a huge juice head, so really this isn't all that big of a shocker.

Now, there's a REAL man... beats WOMEN. Pick on somebody your own size sissy. Afraid they'll kick your ass, if not kill you [wishful thinking] Well, we all know the son of a bitch will plea bargain/pay his way out of this. Nevada is as fvck up as California... No Contest, slap on the pinky, 1 week probation and court cost. But those attorneys are going to cost him - BIG TIME. As for the victim [crickets]

I'll wait to hear what is said in court before throwing him under the bus. I hope it's not true. People talk trash and do stupid stuff to these fighters when they are walking around in public, I've seen it happen to a few fighters before in a casino. People will say anything to try and goad them into a confrontation, but most wanna take pics or get an autograph from them.
Let's wait for the testimony under oath before jumping to conclusions people, thanks.

so basically some woman who was all over him, gets pushed off, and is looking for a payday. if he had actually "attacked" her i'm sure she would have marks on her (making it a felony), since he literally beats the hell out of 6'+, 250lbs guys for a living. also, if he had "attacked" her, they would of arrested him, and not just given him a citation. this is a joke.

So quick question for you TMZ. In this article you say "she is 5'4" and 128 pounds"...what size female is fair game? When is it okay for a man to beat a woman?

What excuse could a man that size have for putting his hands on a woman that small?

It's always the heavy contact sports where you find the violent men. These men that play sports should come with warning signs. I cannot imagine that the "so called" money they have is worth putting up with all of the violence and cheating.

Besides if these men get paid as much as people claim that they do, how come they always wind up broke at the end of their careers?

This guy is a 6'5 monster who beats people up for a living. If he violently pushed a 128 pound woman I think she would be in done

Everyone who talks **** about Overeem doesn't know anything they're talking about. Exactly those who follow MMA should know that Overeem is full of class and a straight edge gentleman. How many cases every year do we hear some cheap ass skank trying to get paid. Heck I should go to the states and just sue someone, I'd get paid. Stories like these make me angry at how there's gold diggers everywhere. For those who follow MMA, search ''The Reem'' do***entary and discover how down to earth Alistair is ;)

"Alistair was not arrested, but was summoned to court..." THAT seems odd. Unless this is not exactly 'battery' as TMZ so delicately put it.
