New Jersey Mayor

Keep Snooki's Spin-Off

OUT of My Town!!!

1/31/2012 1:10 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Snooki and Jwoww's new spin-off just hit a nasty snag in New Jersey -- because the town where they planned to shoot the reality show has rejected their request for a film permit.

The Mayor of Hoboken Dawn Zimmer just made the announcement on her website, claiming the Hoboken Film Commission unanimously voted to deny the permit to 495 Productions "based on protecting public safety and quality of life concerns for Hoboken residents."

According to the mayor -- there's a laundry list of problems with approving a 24-hour permit in Hoboken, the least of which is a local policy that prohibits ALL filming after 11pm in residential areas.

The mayor claims filming the show would result in an "unacceptable lessening of the quality of life for the local residents and businesses" -- causing traffic, creating large noisy crowds, and completely disrupting day-to-day life.

Of course, Snooki can also stimulate a local economy -- so is banning her really worth it? Probably.

Good for them!! All cities across the globe should ban all the Un-reality, fake boobed white trailer trash garbage... Hoboken you just moved to the top of my "Best city to live your life in" rating.

Hoboken is a traffic clusterf*ck on a good day. Parking is a nightmare. Bad enough you can't drive on the Garden State Parkway on any weekend due to all the tools going to Seaside Heights. The mayor did the right thing, and I'm sure your residents appreciate it...

Oh boy

Thank you Dawn Zimmer!
Thank you!
I work in Hoboken and it's already bad enough with that TLC show that films at Carlo's Bakery. With these two it'll be even worse!

But if they want to film in Hoboken - why not do this in NYC? Neither of them are from Jersey so what's the big deal with keeping them here?

i'll never understand it. j-wha? is a 20something who looks like she's 50 (beer does a body good)...and spanky has to work out just so her body can support that head of hair, and face of make-up. the only talent they have is suckin down booze faster than bill foster (rip)...and that's SOME talent, but like i said...r...i...p.

Sorry TMZ, but its totally worth it!I dont think that stimulating the economy is nearly as important as maintaining a peaceful and DECENT quality of life!

Hoboken suffers enough with that *ss clown's "Cake Boss" show being filmed there. His place causes lines along Washington Ave - a place where it's impossible to find parking as it is.

Hoboken is geographically only one square mile. The negative impact that a "Jersey Shore" spinoff would have caused would have been incredible. The mayor did the right thing. Thinking first of the current residents who choose to live here for it's proximity to Manhattan, it's restaurants, it's music and arts scene deserve a better quality of life than Snooki and JWoww's "screw everyone else's" attitude!
