Whitney Houston

Found Underwater

2/12/2012 8:57 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Whitney Houston was found in the bathtub of a Beverly Hills hotel yesterday ... with her face underwater
Whitney Houston was found in the bathtub of a Beverly Hills hotel yesterday ... with her face underwater ... people close to Whitney tell TMZ.

According to our sources, her stylist, hairdresser and two bodyguards were among the people in the room at the time. We're told they became worried about Whitney because she had been in the bathroom for over an hour and it was time to start getting ready for the Clive Davis party.

Our sources say they began to knock on the door and there was no answer. We're told the hairdresser, who is female, went in to check on Whitney. She immediately screamed and, according to our sources, one of the bodyguards came running in and pulled her out of the tub.

We're told Whitney's face was below the water and her legs were up ... like she had slid down the back of the tub.

According to our sources, her body was very cold and the bodyguard attempted CPR. That's when hotel security was called.

Paramedics arrived shortly thereafter, but Whitney was pronounced dead at 3:55 PM.

Whitney was best known for her chart topping single I Will Always Love You and won six Grammy Awards, 22 American Music Awards and countless other accolades.

She was seen out partying earlier this week and looked worse for wear and had a history of drug abuse.

Cause of death is not yet known.

As RadarOnline.com previously reported, the bulk of Houston’s millions had seriously dwindled in recent years, according to a source close to the singer.

“Whitney’s fortune is gone,” the source said. “Music industry heavy hitters are supporting her and her label is fronting her cash against her next album, but no one knows when that will be released.”

The troubled singer entered rehab last year to treat her crack cocaine addiction, and a source close to Bobby Brown said at the time that he was so worried about his ex-wife that he feared "she might not pull through."

"Whitney is doing crack again," the source said. "It's the worst it's ever been. Whitney went on tour again, and that's when the relapse occurred."

Brown also told friends that Houston had increasingly isolated herself. "Whitney's shutting a lot of people out of her life," the source said. "It is a dire situation."

Bobby and Whitney were married for 14 years and were officially divorced in 2007. Both have a history of substance abuse. Their 18-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina, was caught on camera last year allegedly snorting lines of cocaine.

"The biggest devil is me. I'm either my best friend or my worst enemy," Houston told ABC's Diane Sawyer in an infamous 2002 interview.

The Recording Academy released a statement Saturday evening: "Six-time GRAMMY(r) winner Whitney Houston was one of the world's greatest pop singers of all time who leaves behind a robust musical soundtrack spanning the past three decades. Her powerful voice graced many memorable and award-winning songs. A light has been dimmed in our music community today, and we extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, fans and all who have been touched by her beautiful voice."

I wonder when Hollywood and the Music Indrustry and any of the Arts, will wake up and clean up the drug industry that permiates that world. How many great talent has to die? How many promising entertainers with one of a kind gifts for the world to enjoy will have to die at the hands of drug dealers. When will Hollywood start a World campaign to STOP Drug Abuse. When will the Music industry pull together and get rid drugs. I am just saying, they have power of influence, and money to spread the message and still another great star is snuffed out becaue it is still not stopped. Where is your anger Hollywood, and the Arts? Where is your outrage?

Why do these stars all seem to die under the same cir***stance? They always have "Their Team" somewhere in the Hotel Room at the time of their deaths, but no one is able to save them or see how high they may be, is it because they are all high too, once again, we will probably not hear the true cir***stances, if you have money, silence seems to ring loud and clear....Seems to run in threes, who will be the next 2? And when will these Stars Dr.s start paying the price?

Yes, why am I not surprised at all the hateful comments about this woman. regardless she has family and friends that loved her, like all of us. And in the midst of such a sad time for her family and friends as well as her fans, despicable people have no shame about posting such inhumane comments. It's sickening tbh, thank goodness for the internet so you can all remain faceless and anonymous behind your hateful comments. Imagine if your family member died and so many people wanted to point out only the negative aspects in their life. No wonder the world is in the state it is, look at what our younger generation learns.

My conspiracy meter is pegging. Whitney's bodyguards were nearby from the time she closed the bathroom door of her hotel room, until her hairdresser discovered the body face-up and underwater in the tub. Granted, TMZ is reporting this. But if true, am I to believe that no one heard Whitney thrash around in bathwater as she died? Unless it all happened instantly by way of a heart attack or stroke, wouldn't she have called out for help? Can anyone who knows better tell me the possibility of a relatively young person dying instantly in silence? Even if she fell down and hit her head while high (the way the actor William Holden died drunk), there would have been a loud noise and probably a lot of blood -- a scenario that would have leaked to the Internet by now. We can debate forever whether a tree falling in a forest makes a sound if no one is there to hear it, but such was not the case here. Foul play? Doubt it. But I smell ass-covering, and as usual it stinks.
