Celine Dion

Drugs Killed Whitney Houston

2/13/2012 7:30 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Celine Dion isn't waiting for the coroner to give an official cause of death for Whitney Houston because she apparently knows what killed her ... drugs.

Speaking to "Good Morning America" today via phone, Dion wasted no time pinning Houston's untimely passing on drug abuse. She told Robin Roberts, "Whitney has been an amazing inspiration for me ... It's just really unfortunate that drugs, bad people or bad influence took over. It took over her dreams. It took over her love and motherhood."

Dion immediately linked Houston's death with other famous people who died from drugs. She went on to say, "When you think about Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe and Michael Jackson and Amy Winehouse, to get into drugs like that, for whatever reason. Is it because of the stress and bad influence? What happens when you have everything?"

A cause of death has not yet been determined, but sources close to Houston's family tell TMZ the coroner has told them she died from Xanax and other prescription drugs mixed with alcohol.

Whitney probably took her Xanax with Cocaine. These combination causes death.

there are certainly a lot of seats available if you want to see Miss Perfect Celine Dion, self-proclaimed Miss Perfect Mother, Wife, Entertainer. I remember she pulled the same kind of Miss Perfect stunt when Britney had problems.

RIP Whitney. We love you girl.

A) Celine isn't anorexic, never took drugs and for the record is a GREAT parent which you would have seen if any of you had watched any of the many do***entaries she has taped B) she said what many were thinking. We all are sad Whitney died. It was tragic and a waste. Even if the drugs she had in her room didn't kill her, her career was destroyed by them and that was what Celine was talking about. More celebs should take her example. 30+ years in the industry and she is still selling albums and raking in the bucks. They should establish the Celine Dion academy of how to do celebrity right.

Really? She really had the balls to comment on something that has nothing to do with her - and something that is still so fresh in the hearts and minds of her family and fans?!

How about this... next time, shut it, Celine. Why don't you go crawl into bed with your 92 year old husband and worry about your own life. Talk about awful!

Michael died of drugs, he with his doctor murdered himself. Assisted suicide, thats what I call it. I have listened to Michael since a youngster, michaels age then and now. I have wanted to support him but it was always so painful to watch. His death like many others happens, because of addiction. The fact that they can hide behind their celebrity therefore their addictions we can be ignorant. Blame others, and we should. Bobby, friends, family the doctors and pharmacist. They are as guilty as the victim themselves. Why is so easy to blame the common junkies, our neighbors or friends but not them. They did nothing for you. Not really, good music yes, danced yes, but in the end. It was about them. We purchased their product they consumed the life they have lived as do we.

Wow.....I am Canadian...and for the records, I adore Celine Dion. However....her remarks about this situation have left me somewhat astounded....and ashamed. Celine has had a very fortunate life, but this is the first time I have ever seen her be "above all faults". I am truly disappointed in Celine.

Addiction is a disease and it does not discriminate. Adults know intellectually what they are doing and the risks and they still do harm to themselves. Physicians need to be held accountable for blatant unethical practices, but there is no reason to blame them when an adult abuses prescribed medications and then mixes them with alcohol too. We are becoming a society of blame, from happy meal toys to hot coffee to Hollywood. We are a sue happy society who views a law suit as easy money and/or passing the blame off, with no regard for who is really responsible. We are a country founded on the principles of freedom and with that also comes a responsibility for our actions. We need to return to hands on parenting and we need to accept the blame for our own bad choices. Isn't that how we supposedly learn and grow, some faster than others. Education and access to real rehabilitation allows someone who is ready to change, to change.

I believe too that Whitney died over bad influence and drugs.

Celine Dion's comments were very insensitive and very judgmental so soon after the death of Whitney Houston. No matter how she died, we have lost an angel's voice. Dion has always been full of herself, i.e., the ridiculous wedding spectacle. RIP Whitney. You will always be loved.

Her comments were expressions of how she felt and what she thought, why do they have to be deemed inappropriate or bad. She was honest, the world is missing this type of honesty and/or integrity. Thank you Celine for being real. She gave Whitney her props and what she said was not derogatory towards Whitney if anyone should have a problem it should be Bobby because its clear she was referencing him as the bad influence.
