Whitney Houston

Laid to Rest

2/19/2012 10:10 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Pop legend Whitney Houston was buried today at Fairview Cemetery.

Pop legend Whitney Houston was buried today at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, NJ.

Houston was laid to rest next to her father, John Russell Houston, who died in 2003. The burial was a small "family only" affair and not the star-studded event that yesterday's moving funeral service was.

As TMZ first reported, Whitney's casket was heavily protected since the funeral yesterday ... with nearly 10 security guards working in shifts to keep it guarded.

Houston passed away back on February 11. A cause of death has yet to be determined.

if you want a private funeral dont announce it .They could have flown her in held a service , buried her and no one would be the wiser BUT you announce the plane will be arriving, her invited guest are and will be at such and such church ? wonder how they all knew ?

People,"PLEASE", think about it!! If the family had of wanted privacy, there are ways of doing that, first off, by not announcing the burial site in advance. They asked for all of this publicity -- It was WHITNEY'S LAST HORRAH!! Unfortunately, that's pretty much all that was left to celebrate!! So, we all got to see the parade and circus!!

come on people, "PLEASE", surely we all must know, that if Whitney's family would have wanted this to all be private, they would not have made every detail public before hand. There are ways of doing that. Unfortunately, this was all that was left to do -- "WHITNEY'S LAST HORRAH"!! Therefore, we all got to see the parade and circus!! Don't blame the media or TMZ. This is how "divas" live and die, always wanting to be on camera!!

Who really cares. Where are all the parades and turns out for all the fallen soliders who put there lives on the line. So she could do her drugs and kill herself seriously.

If I were the family of Whitney Houston, I would be concerned about grave robbers trying to exhume the body. Someone of this magnitude and celebrity status should have been buried in a more secure cemetery and away from crazed, desperate fans.

It isn't everyday that an icon is born. Whitney Houston aka "The Voice" will be remembered for-EVER! She fused contemporary, pop and soul in a way that no one could ever do. Despite Ms. Houston's lifestyle and shortcomings, she stood firm in her faith and held on to God's unchanging hand until the end. We will always love you, Whitney. RIP.
