Lenny Dykstra Begs Judge:

to Gary Carter's Funeral

2/24/2012 5:15 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Disgraced MLB star Lenny Dykstra desperately wants to attend the Florida funeral of his former NY Mets teammate Gary Carter ... and has filed documents with the judge BEGGING him to travel even though he's currently under house arrest in L.A..

Carter -- who played with Dykstra on the infamous '86 Mets championship team -- passed away last week after battling brain cancer. His funeral is set for later today in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Problem for Dykstra ... he's on house arrest for a whole bunch of alleged crimes, including bankruptcy fraud and embezzlement ... and needs a judge's permission if he wants to leave the state.

In the docs, Dykstra notes that he wants to stay until Sunday ... so he can attend an intimate gathering reserved for close friends and family on Saturday.

8:52 AM PT -- Lenny got his wish. The judge signed off on the request.  Now, Lenny's just gotta figure out how he can afford the plane ticket.

Lenny just wants to steal and pawn anything that's not nailed down. He doesn't give a crap about Gary Carter, (did he call him, when he was sick?) and Carter didn't care enough to bail Lenny out when he had a chance.

I don't think he asked a judge to go to his own mother's funeral(she died when he was in jail). Now he wants to go to a friend's? This guy doesn't give a rip about his own family or anyone else.

The 1986 Mets champions were pretty tight friends. I'm glad Lenny will be able to attend Gary's funeral.
