Whitney Houston

Funeral Home Denies Leaking

Casket Photo

2/25/2012 7:00 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

The funeral home where Whitney Houston's body was kept last week is denying that it played any role in leaking a photo of the pop legend inside her casket.

Carolyn Whigham, owner of the Whigham Funeral Home in Newark, NJ, tells the Daily News she is devastated that the photo is out there and says her staff had nothing to do with it.

She tells the paper, "We did not take that photo. We did not sell the photo. We would never do something like that."

Whigham says she has received numerous threats since the publication of the photo, but that Whitney's family has told her they do not blame the funeral home.

FYI -- eight days ago, someone shopped that pic to TMZ ... we passed.

Having graduated in the funeral services program, and having worked in the funeral field for years, some facts for non-funeral people: most funeral homes do not have security cameras; the photo as taken is set up in a visitation room in the scenario that the family can come in for approval of hair, make-up, clothing, etc. before services; there is a form that funeral homes use/can use (or even a clause in the contract) allowing funeral homes to photograph the deceased...personally, my family sometimes takes photos at funerals (such as for some this is the only family reunion there is) and i think a family member took and sold the photo- they pulled th funeral services to sell to benefit the daughter, making money off record sales, and if the family didnt do it, they're just pi$$ed someone else is making money

What is the problem? The family is selling the home going service like it is a hot movie, someone in the family at the private viewing sold a picture of her in the coffin to pad their own pockets. This was a family thing.

If the Houston family is not made at the funeral home director or its' employees that tell me the Houston family have some knowledge of who took the photo. Just remember this, Whitney is more valuable in death than life! Clive Davis and Cissy Houston are making a mint!

Pah! There's nothing wrong with a casket photo; Elvis and James Brown had 'em. TMZ passed because of the SOURCE of the picture, so they know who it was and that makes me think it was a family member.

The O'Jays said it best "For the love of money people don't care who they hurt or beat." Unfortunately, I don't believe TMZ would pass on an opportunity like this just because it seems like the ethical thing to do. I saw an article here that revealed the "Deathtub" she died in and photos of remnants of her last meal.

I don't think it was the family. In one of the pics it is a view of the casket from quite a ways away and there is another another person in that room. It was someone who was alone with the casket, which leads me to believe it was someone involved with the funeral home.

If someone "shopped" that photo to TMZ .. don't they know who it was...or at least why they said it was????

It would be too much to ask of those at the National Enquirer to get a conscience. Thank you, TMZ, for passing on the pic.

Unbelievable

"eight days ago, someone shopped that pic to TMZ ... we passed."

Are you kidding us - no one shopped that pic to you - TMZ. The s***bag National Enquirer beat you to it. It could be Bobbi Kristina took it and send it to a friend just to see how her mom looked and her friend sold it. People take photos of their dead loves ones all the time. Maybe BobbiKris didn't know this would be the outcome.

You guys need to figure out how to do some simple math... Carolyn Whigham is full of you know what, because if this photo was shopped to TMZ eight days ago, there is no way that anyone but the funeral home sold this picture. They have stated more than once in their denials and defense that Whitney's body was under 24 hour security watch, with the exception of the private family viewing.

Carolyn Whigham sold that poor family out.
