Whitney Houston

Target YANKS

Offensive Greeting Card

2/29/2012 5:30 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Whitney Houston greeting card from Target. It's still too soon to make Whitney Houston jokes -- at least according to the people at Target, who have decided to pull a greeting card from their shelves that mocks the late singing legend.

The card -- available long before Whitney died -- pokes fun at the singer's downward spiral in recent years ... "Next time you think of dating the bad boy, consider Whitney Houston."

The card was kinda funny before she died -- but now that Whitney's gone, Target has decided it's a tad too offensive ... at least for now ... and is currently in the process of yanking it from its stores.

A rep for the store tells TMZ, "The card was in our stores prior to Ms. Houston’s death. As soon as this was brought to our attention, we began the process of removing the card from all applicable stores."

I am so tired of hearing about Whitney Houston. I am sorry her family lost her but get a grip there are people that pass everyday that have done important things in life. Singing isn't something that I would call important. People that are not on drugs that truly want to live. She was a drug addict and they usually end up just like her dead. She made her choice. And TARGET you should have left the card on the shelf, it's the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They should make a card that says: If you ever want to become a man consider Chad Bono. She looks hideous as a man.

well, the card was funny while she was alive...but, it is pretty tasteless now that she's gone. good move for target. not to worry. it'll still end up on the shelves of some tasteless novelty shop like dapy or spencers gifts.

whitney huston was an angel sent to us from heaven and we should have nothing but the utmost respect for her i do agree the reason she is not with us today was partly bobbys fault but everyone makes his or her own decitions in life, i dont agree using jokes in anyones time of grief or no matter what the reason may be they had every right to pull the card from there store. out of respect for whitney, her family and all of her friends, and fans she will always be in our hearts and never be forgotten.

I think that in spite of the freedom of speech is practiced, we arealways going to have to consider the fact if something is politically correct. There is always the chance for a backlash of a lawsuit. I personally would never have known that this card exited, until Target or however brought attention to it. A good opportunity for free advertisement as well as those curious to go to Target and maybe purchase the said card. As a parent who can count the number of times I tuned into the Jerry Springer show, I have used his venue as a demonstration to my daughters about beeing aware of their feelings and the smooth talkers out there. We don't have to point to this singer's misfortune, but reflect on her talent and wish her peace.

A TAD offensive? Are you kidding? She should have sued the pants off of the company that released those cards! Bobby Brown was not the reason she was on drugs...she was headed that way when she met him. Target, keep those cards off the shelves and burn them!

YES!!!!
even if she were still alive I believe this is not the way to reach the unfortunate by ridiculing others. That is why we have sooo much suicides and bullying.
God some people can be so heartless......
