Kirk Cameron

Blasted by GLAAD

Over Gay Marriage Comments

3/3/2012 2:33 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

Kirk Cameron's comments to Piers Morgan on gay marriage are not sitting well with the folks at GLAAD ... who think the former "Growing Pains" star "sounds even more dated than his 1980s TV character."

Cameron said during last night's show that he does not support gay marriage, and when it comes to homosexuality in general ... he said, "I think that it's ... unnatural. I think that it's detrimental, and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization."

Herndon Graddick, Senior Director of Programs at GLAAD, tells TMZ he feels Cameron, a Born Again Christian, is "out of step with a vast majority of Americans, particularly people of faith who believe that their gay and lesbian brothers and sisters should be loved and accepted based on their character and not condemned because of their sexual orientation."

A GLAAD spokesman says they plan on monitoring Cameron's media bookings and various acting gigs to ensure "the news and entertainment industry is aware of his outrageous anti-gay views."

What I don't understand is why *anyone* cares about what Kirk Cameron thinks on any topic. While I disagree with him about homosexuality, I can't imagine why this is getting any press at all.

Thanks to all for the comments, by the way. It's heartening to see people with different views discussing. There's always a few bashers in both directions, but we shouldn't care about what they think anymore than we should about KC's opinion.

I do agree that Kirk can have any opnion he wants, and he was just responding to a question.

At the end of the day, gay people are going to still be gay.

When I am looking for authorities on social issues, Kirk Cameron is about the last person I would consult. If he doesn't want to marry another guy that is fine just don't try to tell other people what they can or can't have.

No, it is not a vast majority, it is a small minority. Liberal tyranny is at it again. And besides, it is God who judges what is right and wrong. All people sin and all people deserve His wrath. It is unloving to say that what is wrong is right. It is loving to say that someone is headed to danger and how to escape that danger. It is in Jesus alone who died for our wrongdoing for all those who would turn away from their sin and trust in Him to save them.

Firstly, from a strictly Christian stand-point, Homosexuality
- not unlike Adultery, ***********, and other fleshly-sins-
is an ABOMINATION, before The True and Living YAHWEH - Most Omnipotent and Omnipresent Creator of Heaven and Earth.

Without question, the mere concept of Homosexual "marriage"
is the logical and moral equivalent of Legally-Blind "Driver's Licenses". No matter how sincere the intent - patently absurd.

Of course, this is not a cause for Hate, but, for REPENTANCE.

The House of David humbly invites EVERYONE, to please pray
for our sisters and brothers affected by the devastation in our once GODly-blessed nation, during the ENTIRE week of March 27-April 4, 20TWELVE.

He is 200% correct and I am hoping he stick to what he believes in. I agree with him totally. If that is his believes that his believes. 2 of the same sex can not produce anything. Nothing can come out of it, its not natural.

I support Kirk, I applaud him for standing up for the way he believes and not backing down because of politically correct pressure. He has never been shy about his beliefs, so I can't imagine it's going to make a difference in his career. I think more people believe the same way as he does, they are just too chicken to admit it.

RELIGION is detrimental and ultimately destructive to the foundations of civilization. This guy is a tool. Speaking as a logical heterosexual, why the F would what gay people do together affect anyone else's life? Why do religious people spend so much time even thinking about it? Scary.

You can ban gay marriage, it's not going to stop gay people from being married, raising families, and having gay sex.

Well, everyone KNOWS that "the gays" are not truly happy people...how can they be when they know that the reality is that their lifestyle is preverted. Cameron is just stating what everyone feels.

Um... He was last relevant in the early 1990s. Since his big conversion to the ultra-conservative form of "Christianity" his career has went to H*ll.

He's an evangelical Christian; what did you expect him to say about it?

there have been a number of blinds associated with this guy over the years.... according to Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian...
"I never gossip. Except to save a soul. Or a conversation. But . . . there is an area in Griffith Park where you can take the kiddies for a train ride. A certain actor used to enjoy taking men for another kind of ride in the same area. He would cruise the park, pick up a guy, and then hook up with them in his car. The really ironic thing here is that the actor is so religious that when he was a teen heartthrob (a couple of decades ago) he used to insist that any dialogue that was even the slightest bit sexual or profane be removed from his lines because they violated his sense of decency. He’s all grown up now – and still cruises for guys. His wife may not know, but Jesus does!"
