Rush to Rush Limbaugh

STOP USING OUR MUSIC

... or Else

The '80s have come back to bite Rush Limbaugh in the ass ... Rush (the band) has followed Peter Gabriel's lead and have demanded Limbaugh stop using their music on his radio show ASAP.

Rush (the band) was FURIOUS when they discovered Rush (radio guy) was playing their song "The Spirit of Radio" as he ranted about wanting to see sex tapes of Sandra Fluke. The band got even more upset when they learned it wasn't the first time Rush (radio) has used their music on his show.

The band has since fired off a cease and desist letter to Rush (radio) ... saying, "The public performance of Rush’s music is not licensed for political purposes and any such use is in breach of public performance licenses and constitutes copyright infringement."

The letter continues, "Accordingly, we hereby demand that you immediately stop all use of Rush’s music and confirm that you will do so."

As for Peter Gabriel ... his song, "Sledgehammer" was playing on Rush's radio show when he called Fluke a "slut" ... and, shocker, Peter's pissed too.

Gabriel's rep said the singer has demanded that his music also be pulled from Limbaugh's show.

I'm sure their participation in this will really help their fan base!! LOL
Rush the band is so has been and in my opinion were never a good band anyway. They are canadian as well I believe which doesn't make them bad, just their music and that hideous lead singers voice. Awful.

Way to go Alex, Geddy, and Neil!!! Rush
Limbaugh is a complete moron and a douchebag. I wouldnt want my music associated with a political hack, who uses the airwaves to spew his nonsense on a daily basis. Rush Limbaugh has tarnished " The Spirit of Radio ".
2112 forever!!!!!

He pays the music rights. He can play it. So, Rush (the band) take off--to the great white north! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BFPt001PYU

(Geddy Lee of Rush helping out "Bob and Doug" of SCTV fame--Dave Thomas, not the Wendy's guy, and Rick Moranis (before he shrunk the kids) )

Rush has mentioned before the use of My City Was Gone. It was irony--a band/lead singer opposed to him, and he was using their song. To their credit, it is very catchy (esp. the bass line). Hynde wanted him to stop using it, but she "let him" continue to do so after he donated to PETA, plus supposedly Hynde's mother was a fan of the talk host. Hynde's vegetarian restaurant in Akron, OH, her home town, flopped ("I went back to Ohio...") When George W Bush won re-election, and it seemed that Ohio was the difference, Rush played the whole song. "I say, way, oh, way to go Ohio."

Hynde on stage: "Are we at war yet? Bring it on, I hope the Muslims win! Down with the economic s--- this country represents!"

As she counts her millions.

Supposedly Rush paid $100,000 to PETA to use the song My City Was Gone by the Pretenders.

Since the show only uses(quotes) a portion of the song...without lyrics...and is NEVER identified nor is it tied to any statement by Limbaugh, the fair use doctrine will prevent Rush (the band) from being able to stop it. They know it. Peter Gabriel knows it. They are just putting out these statements to make themselves look better to the leftist musical establishment. It doesn't surprise me that Gabriel would do this, but I thought better of Rush.
...and besides. I always have to explain to people that this little burst of music is actually a band called Rush. So many people don't know and would never know...Limbaugh never identifies them.

I bet Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders have a right to take away Rush Limbaugh's license to use their music if they want to. There's probably some legal language in the contract for the license that allows the Pretenders to revoke his license if they want to.

It would be sooo hilarious if Rush was stopped from using ANY Pretenders song. If he tries to use another song, hopefully that musician will do the same thing.

You people keep talking about taxpayers money. Why don't you read up on what happened here. This was concerning a private insurance company that she paid premiums on. No TaxPayer Money!!
Limbaugh is an idiot and apparently so are a lot of other people.

Ms. Fluke was not asking TAXPAYERS to pay for her contraceptives ... that's #1 (it would be covered under health insurance which is not paid for by you and me.) Also, the band, RUSH, does not want to be contaminated by the guy, Rush, so it is completely understandable why they wouldn't want this filthy animal associated with their music.

Many of those commenting, in addition to Limbaugh, are twisting the facts. The *government* would not be providing contraceptive hormones. The issue is that when a doctor prescribes, a for-profit INSURER cannot, and should not be able to, restrict access to the medicine prescribed. Federal law says that contraceptive hormones are medicines that a doctor can prescribe and a patient can take. The complaint is that the university wants to exclude that medicine and not allow its insurer to cover it, regardless of whether it's being used for contraception, or whether it's being used to reduce uterine or ovarian cysts (which is often the case). If Limbaugh has his way, your employer will be able to make decisions about women's medical care which should be private. Currently the law is written to simply not allow insurers to opt out of paying for a medicine that an employer wants its employees not to have.

OMG! I'm sure Limbaugh is devastated. He's only the highest paid and most listened to radio show host in America.
