Former Queens of the Stone Age bassist Nick Oliveri insists he wasn't packing heat OR drugs during a tense standoff with a S.W.A.T. team in L.A. last summer -- pleading "not guilty" today to all five charges stemming from the incident.

TMZ broke the story ... Nick was arrested last July -- after a fight with his girlfriend escalated into a four-hour standoff with police. Oliveri was booked on felony domestic violence -- and after police searched his home, they say they found a fully-loaded rifle.

According to the charging docs, police also found cocaine and methamphetamines during the search.

Oliveri was charged in August with two counts of possession of a controlled substance with a firearm, 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance, and one misdemeanor count of resisting, obstructing or delaying a peace officer.

A pre-trial date has been set for April 13th. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years behind bars.

Linds wants to know if there's any leftover cocaine. No point in letting it go to waste.

it's wrong how police make up charges. Brooke Mueller selling drugs? no, the dealer she bought from had it pre packaged. this guy's gun? it's probably legal for him to have a loaded shotgun in his house. drugs they found? he probably lost them and didn't even know they were there! yet they package everything up into something bigger for more city money. the courts are broken and the police are not here to help you.

The problem is that drugs + guns often lands you much more serious charges than if you were popped with just one or the other. For Mr. Oliveri's sake, I sure hope he's able to plea down to something lesser. But it sounds like he's probably going away for a couple years at least, even in a best case scenario.

I am now understanding that their may have been a real good reason why his longtime bud kicked him out of Queens of the Stone Age and why he fit in so well with the Dwarves. Get it together, Nick. You're much better than this.
