George Clooney
and his father Nick have been arrested in Washington, D.C. during a protest over the Sudan crisis.

Clooney was leading a protest in front of the Sudanese embassy in D.C. when he was hauled away by secret service agents.

0316_george_clooney_subassetClooney's publicist Stan Rosenfield tells TMZ, "They were protesting the violence committed by the government of Sudan on its own innocent men, women and children. They were demanding they allow humanitarian aid into the country before it becomes the largest humanitarian crisis in the world."

Sources connected with George tell us he feels good about the arrest because it puts the spotlight on the crisis. Moments before the arrest, George was mobbed by reporters (below) -- claiming, he was protesting to raise awareness about the "Sudanese government committing atrocities on their own people."

We're told a dozen people got arrested including congressmen, leaders of the human rights community, Sudanese citizens, Martin Luther King III and George's father ... Nick Clooney.

Clooney recently shot a short documentary about the situation in Sudan, which he released on EnoughProject.org. WARNING -- Video contains VERY graphic content.

It's funny, all you commentors are just bashing Clooney without any clue as to what you're actually talking about. Read the rest of the article. Does Martin Luther King III need to take his overpaid @$$ home and stay out of politics too? To quote from the article...
"We're told a dozen people got arrested including congressmen, leaders of the human rights community, Sudanese citizens, Martin Luther King III and George's father ... Nick Clooney."

And some of you people are truly heartless how can you see a child with their hands blown up and worry about your gas prices! you pathetic excuses for human beings! and thats why this world is how it is because instead of people in general worrying about helping others treathing others with respect they worrying about making themselves richer! its sick to see that these people writing these comments are mothers, daughers, cousins...It would be a total different story if that was your kid laying on that strecher! have some companion people you dont' have to like Clooney but what he is doing is wonderful! lets get the rats out of the hidding!

Why do we give a crap about that stuff. People should care more about what goes on here in America.

There is a lot of trash trolling the comment boards. I gotta give the guy his due, I didn't think he had it in him. At least he got arrested doing something worth a D*MN.

**** all of you holier than thou hypocritical conservative *******. All you want to do is hide in your house bowing down to the establishments behind the guise of patriotism and religion, not realizing you are supporting the same fascism and ideologies of 1939 Germany. Someone tries to do a positive thing for other people and you call them stupid liberals, but most of you claim to be followers of Christ and won't lift a finger to help a single person, but yourself. Religion and Conservatism in every country is destroying the world. You're more like the repressive Middle East countries than you want to admit.

CLINT

If not for celebrities like Clooney who have the nerves to travel to a place where he could be killed just to point out the atrocities around the world, we would know nothing of this. I applaud his actions. We have it so easy here in the United States, yet everyone complains about how bad we have it. Try living in some of these countries and then let us know how you really feel. George is doing what less than one percent of the celebrity clique would do, and instead of trying to make it seem like he's doing it to get his face in the paper, some of you need to look a little deeper into the situation and see that he has a heart and cares for humanity, no matter where they come from. And by the way, getting his name in the news by being arrested isn't for his own benefit, it's to bring the message to the people that there is something horrible happening in Sudan.

Why should actors "stick to what they're good at"???? They're people just like you and me and have every right to stand up for what they believe in.. whatever the cause may be. George being arrested shined light on something be feels strongly for and maybe some good will come out of it for him. GOOD FOR YOU GEORGE!!!!
