Uganda Prime Minister

Responds to Kony 2012 Video

and Calls Out Celebs on Twitter

Uganda Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi is finally responding to the Kony 2012 viral video -- with a video of his own and a series of tweets directed at a slew of celebrities.

Just a day after Kony 2012 director Jason Russell was detained by police after a naked meltdown on the streets of San Diego, Mbabazi posted a video on YouTube refuting a "false impression" people have been given about the country as a result of Marshall's video.

Mbabazi said the video is not representative of the current conditions in his country and added, "The Kony 2012 campaign fails to make one crucial point clear: Joseph Kony is not in Uganda."

Mbabazi also tweeted at several celebs who helped make the Kony 2012 video so popular (see below).

Celebrities Suck

I'm glad he's responding to these uneducated celebs trying to profit on such delicate issue that happened over 9 years ago. It makes you wonder how much do these celeb really know and if they really do give a fck. How could they give a fck when they didn't even to their own research? If they did they'd know that Uganda has been in a better place and that Kony was no longer in Uganda. He fled years ago! Scammers!

I am Spartacus

Why does it not surprise me Seacrest and Taylor Swift jumped on the Kony bandwagon. I doubt they actually did any research, like many other people, and just based everything off the propaganda video that the crazy naked guy made.

Next time do some real research instead of just believing everything some video tells you.

mmm politicians, looking for hand washing to remain in power, the only thing he said important is that such kony exists and is somewhere in africa, who cares where, Uganda, Congo, etc, is the same. The campaign and the video can say anything but if this guy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luis_Moreno_Ocampo) said that kony is first in the list of most wanted, instead of saving his a** try to catch him.

I got from the map in Russell's video that Kony was no longer in Uganda, but in neighboring countries. Even if he only have hundreds of followers, instead of thousands, that's still a lot. If Kony is kidnapping children, he's still an international war criminal who needs to be stopped. Also, I noticed on that list of Most Wanted, the #2 guy (Otti?) was listed as being in Uganda. What about him? Is he still a threat? Regardless of where Kony has fled to, if he is still a war criminal, he needs to be stopped.

en Todo Momento!!

it's strange to me that all these 'first world celebrities' have to look all the way to africa et al to 'create awareness' etc about killings of large numbers, when just about every us american as well as european city marks annual very high numbers of 'unsolved murders', like it's normality for 'the white west'. total arrogance/ignorance, in other words.

tellmeaboutit

Basically, Kony is years old news presented as a hot topic for today and all the sheep jumped on it, as usual. Are these anxious to donate people the same ones who don't want to hear of any increase in taxes to improve America; the same ones who poo-pooed the taking of Bin Laden because it was under the current administration??

Worried about this guy being brought to justice? He's only one of many who deserve the same. I'll say one thing for Marshall and Russell. They sure know how people love to jump on trends right now and how to use social media. At this time in our history, America needs to work on solving its own problems first. And Uganda and others should do the same.
