Tim Tebow

Converts to the NY Jets

3/21/2012 9:48 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Tim Tebow has just been traded from the Denver Broncos
The Lord works in mysterious ways ... 'cause  Tim Tebow has just been traded from the Denver Broncos to the New York Jets ... this according to FOX NFL insider Jay Glazer.

According to Jay ... the Jets had to give up a 4th round draft pick and a 6th-round pick in exchange for the former Heisman Trophy winner ... and got an additional 7th round pick in return.

The Jets already have a starting quarterback in Mark Sanchez ... but if Sanchez chokes again ... like he did last season ... Tebow could be in a good position to take over the #1 spot.

Story developing ...

Great, let Sanchez run the pass plays and Tebow run the wildcat. Tebow will help the Jets as long as the team can keep their egos in check.

Tebow is awesome as a player and a good American citizen. Let's give credit where credit is due.

All I can say is it's a sad, sad day for Jets fans. Been a Jets fan forever, not anymore.

In reading through everyone's posts, it seems that people are having a hard time separating Tim Tebow the person from Tim Tebow the NFL QB. Tim Tebow is a great person....... Tim Tebow is not a great NFL QB. Yes, he had some success last year and made some plays. However, for every play that he made, there were five other plays where he did not perform. Everyone is blaming the Denver play calling; while it was awful, what many people don't realize is that Denver had to "dumb-down" the play calling because they had a QB who did not have many of the fundamental capabilities needed to run a standard NFL offence. Does anyone really believe that John Fox and John Elway wanted to run a college style option offence...... of course they didn't, they had to because that is what their QB was/is capable of. Now that defenses have seen a "Tebow offence" they will make adjustments and I don't think Tebow will have the same type of success in year two as he did in year one.

Folks, John Elway was hired to do one thing..... Win Championships. While Tebow fans may say otherwise, there was just no way that is/was going to happen with a college style option offence. Elway's decision to bring in Peyton Manning is not only a good decision, its a great decision, and its one that will give Denver a real chance of winning championships over the next few years. Elway is doing his job, nothing more.

On another topic, a lot of people are also bashing Tim Tebow for the "Three Ring Circus / Tebow Mania" that follows him. While I can feel for the Denver fans, and now the Jets fans, who think this is a distraction for the team as a whole (and they are right) lets remember that its not Tebow's fault the media goes crazy over him. He's different than many other individuals in the sport today which is what creates the hype. I can say that I admire Tim Tebow for being himself and not conforming to the stereotypical "NFL Superstar" profile. Remember, hes never told you how you should live your life, hes just showed you how he lives his. There is a big difference and I don't see how he can be faulted for that, regardless if you agree with his lifestyle or not.
