Hospitalized in Dubai

Bob Baffert -- arguably the greatest horse racing trainer of all-time -- is recovering from emergency surgery in Dubai this morning after suffering a major heart attack.

Baffert -- a 3-time Kentucky Derby winner, 5-times Preakness winner and 1-time Belmont Stakes winner -- is currently in Dubai to race a horse in the $10 million Dubai World Cup.

The 59-year-old had experienced pain during the flight in ... and felt tired while he was checking out the barn. Baffert was eventually rushed to a hospital ... where doctors determined he had two blocked arteries.

According to Baffert's assistant, Baffert went under the knife and got 3 stents put in 2 of his arteries. His assistant says he's currently in recovery mode and is "doing very good."

"...is recovering from emergency surgery in Dubai this morning after suffering a major heart." HUH? Heart what? Or does he just have an enlarged heart?

GETTING A STENT IS NOT GOING UNDER THE KNIFE! ITS NOT A SURGERY AT ALL. THEY ARE DONE AS OUTPATIENTS ALL THE TIME. IF IT WAS AN EMERGENCY, THEY STILL GO HOME IN 2-3 DAYS. GLAD HES OK THOUGH.

Typical sensationalist journalism. What happened to him is definitely not to be taken lightly, but you do not go under the knife for stents, I know I have had 4 myself.

Bob Baffert is a really nice person! I met him and his lovely wife and was impressed with how down to earth and kind they both are. I wish him a speedy recovery... especially because he has a young child who really needs her daddy!
