WWE Superstar Randy Orton

SCRAPPED from 'Marine' Flick

Over Military Past

4/3/2012 5:30 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

WWE superstar Randy Orton

WWE superstar Randy Orton has been 86'd from the lead role in the upcoming movie "Marine: Homefront" ... amidst outrage from several Devil Dogs who claim Randy deserted them during his brief stint in the USMC.

A rep for WWE tells us, "WWE demonstrated poor judgment in signing Randy Orton for the 3rd installment of the film."

The rep adds, "Despite Randy's popularity, the fact that he was dishonorably discharged from the USMC made it inappropriate for him to be cast in this film."

The move will surely satisfy Cpl. Mike Vinn ... one of Randy's former unit members who was FURIOUS the wrestler was ever up for the role in the first place ... since Orton received a bad conduct discharge in 1999 after going AWOL on two separate occasions and disobeying an order from a commanding officer.

Orton was court-martialed and served 38 days in a military prison.

Before Orton was scrapped from the project, Vinn told TMZ, "I am disgusted that his face and the word Marine are being used next to each other -- real or fake -- because of the fact that he quit us, the country, and the Marine Corps. [Randy] in the role of a Marine is a disgrace to those that have worn and are wearing that uniform."

Well...thats quite disappointing. I wanted to see him so much in an action movie. He was looking forward to it, too. :(

Actors that are high school drop-outs play characters that attend ivy league schools and are portrayed as geniuses, actors with criminal records play police men. that is some funny bs. some marines are huge pos's and un-savery as hell, the fact that they think marines as a whole should be considered all heroes that deserve respect is bull shyte, some marines rape, murder, use drugs, and torture animals while they are stationed in other countries that are so war torn that they can get away with it.

most military men are trash. I know a marine that got home after serving in iraq and afghanistan and received a purple heart for being wounded and other medals for bravery, when he got back to the states he got 3 fat girls pregnant and got in trouble for flicking one of the fat girls son she already had in the penis for peeing in the tub and some other in appropriate stuff, and he does not support his children and sells vicodin he gets from the V.A hospital, he is on welfare unemployment and mutilates animals, and this is only one military man, i know others same low life behavior pretty much, but these marines think they all deserve respect

The Marines are part of the Navy. The gayest part. Guys on boats for months at a time away from land... you do the math.

Actually, the joke is on them, wrestling fans for many years have already known about his military past. They should have googled him sooner or talked to the dirt sheets.

It's a B-movie action flick, who cares? People love to try and find reasons to be outraged.

It was going to be a ****ty movie just like the last 2 anyway and now it will get even less people watching it because his fans will (and already have started, go look at twitter) bury it. His military past has NEVER been a secret, way to get outraged over a movie. Don't these guys have more important things to worry about?

I agree with Christen who posted earlyer

"Wow it is just a movie chill out get over yourselves besides i don't think his past should be hold against him"

I'm suprised Cpl. Mike Vinn didn't bitch and complain that Cena and Ted Dibiase Jr. were cast in earlyer movies both as far as I know ere never in the Marine's before going to WWE. there are many actors in hollywood over the years who have never been in the Marine's and yet they played a role as one....it's just a movie.

One thing is for certain. Anonymity brings forth bravery. I would suspect that none who have posted decretory comments concerning the United States Marine Corp would dare have the courage to speak those comments face to face with any US Marine. So with that said, I can say without thought, you people are devout cowards and sorely disappointing to yourself and your family.
