'Hunger Games' Star

U.S. Should LOWER

Boozing Age to 18

If 18-year-olds can fire a shot in war ... they should be able to take a shot in a bar ... so says "Hunger Games" star Josh Hutcherson.

Hutcherson was leaving STK last night when we asked a question inspired by his 19-year-old co-star Alexander Ludwig ... who triggered an investigation when he left a 21+ bar in Hollywood this week.

Hutcherson tells us the drinking age in America simply doesn't make sense -- saying, "I think the age to go to war is 18 ... so I think the drinking age should be 18 as well."

Hutcherson raises a good point ... so we gotta ask ...

Also in Europe and other places were drinking is legal at an earlier age the rate of liver failure before you are 30 is much greater. I went through liver failure last year, beleive me it isn't fun.

What does going to war have to do with drinking? Neither one is good for your health necessarily, but one is sometimes necessary.

You can phsycially get pregnant and give birth around the age of 11 or 12, so should we lower the legal marriage age?!?

You can make an argument for any ridiculous comment like this idiot did.

Most people that will drink alcohol are already drinking at 18. So if you lowered the drinking age to 18 it wouldn't be that big of a deal.

I'm kind of on the fence on this one. The age laws, whether it's about drinking, sex, enlisting, whatever - are likely based on averages and don't account for specifics, which of course they can't. Numbers (18, 19, 21, whatever), have to be popped in there somewhere to make a law a law. But they do seem pretty arbitrary and nonsensical most times. Geez, a guy could have sex with a girl that's two minutes shy of a certain age and get 5 to 10, but if he wait's those 2 minutes all's well. Hell, she can legally be a porn star.

Is this jerk even American? If not, SHUT THE F**K UP your opinion means SH!T here. Don't like it, GOOD GO BACK to where you came from. I love how everyone comes to this country & wants to bad mouth our laws. As for military kids who join & go to war, should be able to drink, ok BUT ONLY THE 18 YEAR OLDS WHO SERVE IN THE MILITARY.

How about raise the legal age to 21, then we won't have any double standards? Obviously, teens are still too immature to make their own decisions.

America has a far worse drunk driving problem than other countries which is most likely due to their citizens being more mature about it. What is the positive side of having drunk teenagers driving around??

The drinking age should not be lowered. How many 18 year olds do you know that would be responsible enough to be out drinking? Not many! That even goes for most 21 year olds. Not everyone at 18 can be trusted or mature enough to go to the military either hense why they don't join or don't make it past boot camp. If the drinking age was dropped down to 18 everyone would get that right regardless and thats just not a smart decision.

When you are enlisted, you are under CONSTANT supervision so it's less likely you'll do stupid, immature things and harm innocent people. Not true for 18 year old drinking. !8 year olds can't be trusted not to text and drive, let alone not drink and drive. The mere fact that you NEED to drink alcohol is proof you shouldn't have it.

It 19 in Canada except for Quebec which is 18 but they are in their own world. I don't see what wrong with 19. Your out of high school and your an adult. 18 not a good idea your still in high school

Alcohol is an extremely dangerous drug as we have seen many, many times over the years with young kids driving like lunatics and crashing their (parents) cars, sometimes losing their lives. No freaking way should the drinking age EVER be lower than 21! Even at 21 you are still very young and alcohol abuse is the number 1 problem causing thousands of accidents, fights, and problems in the home. It greatly imparis judgment and reasoning and I hope every state raises its drinking age to at least 21. If the kids dont understand why now - they will when they get older.
