'Hunger Games' Star

U.S. Should LOWER

Boozing Age to 18

If 18-year-olds can fire a shot in war ... they should be able to take a shot in a bar ... so says "Hunger Games" star Josh Hutcherson.

Hutcherson was leaving STK last night when we asked a question inspired by his 19-year-old co-star Alexander Ludwig ... who triggered an investigation when he left a 21+ bar in Hollywood this week.

Hutcherson tells us the drinking age in America simply doesn't make sense -- saying, "I think the age to go to war is 18 ... so I think the drinking age should be 18 as well."

Hutcherson raises a good point ... so we gotta ask ...

Your age to enlist should be made to 21. One thing you have to respect the USA for is the drinking age limit. In the UK we have a severe drinking problem. The term getting it out your system at a young age is ridiculous. If your not acting mature and responsible with or without alcohol at 21 what makes you think people will do so at a younger age?

if you're old enough to put on a uniform for this country and ay your life down for this country, you should be allowed to drink. And here's the catch, this law should be for members of the armed forces ONLY. 21 for everyone else NOT serving this in the military.

I can see lowering the drinking age back to 18, but change the rules. Most states .08 is considered drunk, so from 18 to 25 lower the limit to .06 after age 25 .08.

Let's see...At 18 you can wake up in the morning, go out on patrol with your fellow soldiers and kill someone. By lunch you're back in the mess hall filing out your write in ballot for the Presidential election. At dinner you marry your girlfriend. You're so nervous that before the ceremony you step outside to smoke a cigarette. After the ceremony you take your bride back to the hotel room. During the evening festivities you film yourselves and upload it to a porn site. ALL of this is perfectly legal for you, but DON'T DARE END THE DAY WITH A BEER because THAT is ILLEGAL!!!

You are an ADULT WHEN YOU TURN 18 in the eyes of the law. You should be able to be treated like one.

While I do believe the drinking age should be lowered to age 18, it should also be pointed out that in many foreign countries where the drinking age is under 21, there are a LOT of clubs (especially the more ritzy ones where people go to be seen) that are over-21 clubs. Australia, the UK and Canada all have a lot of over-21 clubs since many people don't want to be bothered by kids getting their drink on for the first time.

GREAT IDEA!
(sarcasm)
There are 21 year olds who can't handle themselves when they drink. Everyday, you hear horror stories about drunk drivers and PEOPLE WHO ARE LEGAL TO DRINK ending up in the ER due to alcohol poisoning.... so, yeah, changing the drinking age to 18 makes perfect sense. I guess one perk would be that all those underage drinkers can do it legally now. Lowering the drinking age will result in MORE issues. It's just... not a good idea.

Everyone keeps referencing the age of enlistment... did any of you ever think that the age to enlist in the military should be 21? Goodness, I know so many 18 year olds who signed up for the military after being LIED to by recruiters. At least at 21 they might not be so naive...
