Milli Vanilli

Who DOESN'T Lip-Sync

These Days?

Fabrice Morvan -- better known as one half of duo Milli Vanilli -- tells TMZ ... he's sort of a trailblazer ... because nowadays almost EVERYBODY in pop music lip-syncs their songs.

Fab was leaving Le Pain Quotidien bakery in L.A. yesterday ... when we asked about his infamous phony vocals scandal in 1990 ... when it was revealed neither he nor Rob Pilatus actually sang any of the hits on their album, "Girl You Know It's True."

Fab tells TMZ, "There is no difference between what I did back then and what people are doing now."

He explains, "If you wanna break it down, people might say, 'Well you didn't sing' ... but the fact of the matter is ... now the machines are doing it."

Fab says technology like Auto-Tune allows singers to completely change their voice ... duping fans into believing they can sing ... when, in fact, they can't.

"I ain't pointing the finger, but if you're doing all this and you're not performing the song live ... then you're not doing anything different from what I did."

In case you forgot, check out Milli Vanilli's biggest hit, "Blame It On the Rain." It was later revealed the real vocals were provided by several other people.

Seems this guy has forgotten what we haven't. It wasn't him singing the songs they were lip-synching in the first place. Nice try, though.

The poll box doesn't work when I tried to vote. It says I have to sign in. But I'm already signed in! What's up with that? I say "vindicated". I really could care less about lip syncing. It's been done way before he participated in it. And he was young, going along with what he was told to do for the money. The music was great, the dancing was great. I liked it. At one time people didn't like digital music, but they do now. We're all so critical! Stop it already. So we were fooled, big deal. He got the message. Done deal. Besides that, it's not easy to dance and sing at the same time. And frankly I'd rather hear the recorded version than the live version myself. I can admit that.

I can't believe today people still make fun of this group. When you actually get the facts about this group, it is a sad story. Their producer orchestrated the whole thing. I mean let's face it, how many teenagers today would say NO to a producer who comes to you and says: hey guys, I'll make you rich and famous, the only catch is, you cant sing the songs because of your voices'' ???? The worst of this story is, when you read about their manager, that looser,Frank Farian, he is the one who public gave the punch line saying they were not the singers and ..kept making music with other bands. Many singers didnt sing then, C&C Music Factory, Black Box (All Martha Walsh) yet no one says anything about them. The 2 guys in Milli Vanilli had to take it all for all these guys and a tragedy resulted in all of this. The manager is to blame, not the members of the group. Come one, what are people willing to do even today to be rich and famous???

Blame it on the Rain was a good song regardless of who sang it.. unlike the eeking and ooking of (c)rap "songs" today.

Not that it's okay to lip sync seeing as people don't enjoy paying hundreds of dollars to see you in concert so they can listen to a pre-tape track of your voice, BUT, people these days who do it are lip syncing to their OWN music.. not pretending to be someone else, taking credit for their talent AND not really singing. Just saying.

Some of you are WRONG, with all the "but today's singers are at least lip-synching to their own lousy voices"...You'd be surprised. Some are synching to OTHER's voices!!!!!

Thing is Fab CAN sing, and always could (www.fabmorvan.com) - they just got put in a sticky situation with the contract they signed - which was done with the promise that they would be able to record the follow up album. I simply don't understand why Farian didn't simply add Fab and Rob's vocals to the mix, so this could have all been avoided.

First of all... Huge difference between today's offenders and Milli Vanilli.

At least the people who lipsync in concert, are doing so, to the sound of their own recorded voices.

Milli Vanilli's voices on their hit album 'Girl You Know It's True', weren't even THEM! Now THAT is a bigger sham.

Of course, i prefer real music, and and don't like any of that pop crap in the first place. But just pointing out there IS a difference between the Milli Vanilli scandal, and today's lip-synced pop-tarts.

Seriously, with all the cuts in music education and the total disrespect for music & musicians who can actually sing & play it's no wonder the music business in in the crapper and musicians have a harder time than ever making money at their craft. It's disgusting. http://screen.yahoo.com/are-musicians-in-danger-of-becoming-extinct-28984450.html

how do people think this is vindication? Seriously? Do you guys know the definition of Vindication? There is a BIG difference between people lip-syncing to their own vocals, and someone lip-syncing to someone else's voice. It's like me recording myself singing and lip-syncing it on stage (For which there are good reasons - including the fact you can lose your breath bouncing around on stage which causes you to not sing as well)... and me singing to a recording of SOMEONE ELSE singing. No vindication here. He's not a trailblazer. he's still a guy who faked being a singer.

Milli Vanilli were forced to do it by their producer, Frank Farian, who promised them they could do their own singing on the second album and had them sign their contract in German (does that look like the mark of an honest man?)

Furthermore, he constantly bullied them and they felt terrible about it (Rob Pilatus never got out from under it and later committed suicide) and when Farian's plan got found out, he dumped them in it and went on to try to make $$$ off of the guy he had singing on the album and tapes.
