You know that Acura commercial with Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno that aired during the Super Bowl -- well, we got hold of the casting call document, and they were very specific/exclusionary about their dream African American car dealer.

According to the casting doc, the role of African American car dealer would be played by a "Nice looking, friendly, Not too dark" African American car dealer.

Casting document for the Acura NSX Super Bowl Commercial
We just got hold of the document from an African American actor who didn't fit the profile, and who's pissed.

We made lots of calls, trying to find out why "dark" African Americans weren't right for the role.  Someone associated with casting the commercial tells us ... one of the reasons for the "not too dark" restriction was because lighting and special effects would get tricky.

We made calls to Acura but no one got back to us.

update_bar
Acura just apologized for the wording in the casting call document -- claiming, "We apologize to anyone offended by the language."

this is so NOT a big deal. casting agents are always looking for a specific look. Do the thin actors complain when the agent is looking for someone chubby? or someone with a beard, but not too hairy? should I complain because I'm super white and they're looking for someone with a nice natural tan? even though I can certainly do the job, I don't fit the look they want and the business is ALL about looks. don't kid yourself!

The dark ones have nearly all the good spots on the pro basketball and football teams. Why do they need all the commercials too? Let the light ones have a chance at a career too. Plus, they're less likely to scare the whiteys that buy Acuras.

Whatever TMZ? Are you race baiting Harv? More inane reporting on a story that isn't even there.

Does Accura discriminate as to who they sell cars to? I would not buy an Accura if it were the only car manufacturer in town. You want Blacks money, but you don't want them to work for you?

Let's face it. They should have kept slavery intact. We wouldn't have all these problems.

I am fine with this casting call. They have a right to ask for a yellow-haired, upright, singing iguana if they want.

Casted audiences are requested to be all white. God forbid the camera pans by a black audience member - might make you change the channel. Hollywood is just more open about this. The only people shocked by this are non industry people.

"Gormm" is a wormm smoking shermm, with that anal western goofiness. A BLACK MAN performed the 1st successful open-heart surgery, another improved Edison's more perishable lightbulb filament, still another designed the Capitol in Washington! What a schizo, bestial, genocidal little reptile this ashkenazi infidel is. Pontificating idiocy is a way to only "prove" your paranoid inferiority. Now stat-check that, SON OF PERDITION

POST #15 said " no one likes blacks anyway" really
then why did whites/jews go all the way to africa
just to bring us to america...and kept us here every since!

america could have sent us off once slavery was done.
they even blocked Marcus Garvey from setting up a colony
back in africa for African americans to return to!

sounds like you like african american waaay to much.
you cant stop thinking about us all damn day long.
*igga this *igga that.

Unfortunately this issue does present a problem for lighting directors. Darker complexioned people need different lighting than lighter complexioned people. It's not that it can't be done it takes more time and effort and some people unfortunately don't want to make that adjustment unless it's necessary. It's not necessarily a racial thing.
