You know that Acura commercial with Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno that aired during the Super Bowl -- well, we got hold of the casting call document, and they were very specific/exclusionary about their dream African American car dealer.

According to the casting doc, the role of African American car dealer would be played by a "Nice looking, friendly, Not too dark" African American car dealer.

Casting document for the Acura NSX Super Bowl Commercial
We just got hold of the document from an African American actor who didn't fit the profile, and who's pissed.

We made lots of calls, trying to find out why "dark" African Americans weren't right for the role.  Someone associated with casting the commercial tells us ... one of the reasons for the "not too dark" restriction was because lighting and special effects would get tricky.

We made calls to Acura but no one got back to us.

update_bar
Acura just apologized for the wording in the casting call document -- claiming, "We apologize to anyone offended by the language."

It's always white folks, crying "im not racist, black people need to get over it." by the looks at these comments on tmz. I would say that black folks should never get over ANYTHING, when the same people that claim their not racist, make nasty racist comments. but yeah, "you're not racist and blacks should get over it." Only in America, the land of the most effin stupid people on the effin planet! and TMZ is using these type of posts as bait! they enjoy seeing these racist comments! TMZ is run by Jews isn't it?

It sounds ridiculous but it's perfectly legal.Hollywood is the only place where an employer can get away with asking for a specific gender,race,color,size etc... for a job.

My kid has been on many movie,TV auditions.The kid that got the part usually look's just like my daughter.

A company has the right to hire who they want, it wasn't like they hired a white man and tried to pass him off as black. Get over it

Did you ever think it has NOTHING to do with skin color?

"Nice looking, Friendly. Not too dark. "

This can mean someone that is nice looking & friendly but not too dark as in ... Goth, Emo, tattoos, piercings, etc.

TMZ, you're located in Hollywood, you crawl up the industry's ass with cameras and you have NO IDEA HOW THE BUSINESS WORKS?! you think this call sheet is ONE OF A KIND? Things like this go out every day, even for white people. "Tan, not too white". "Slim build" "athletic build" "rocker look" "rapper look". Your actor is pissed just because he didn't get the job and is looking for an excuse like most sore losing actors do.

So what? They have every right to decide on the look of who is in their commercial. It's no different than asking for someone with blond hair, someone who is thin, or someone that's in a certain age bracket. I can also tell you for a fact that lighting often does have a lot to do with it, when it comes to skin color. Certain skin colors do not work well in certain situations or with certain background colors.

I wonder if that's true about the "special affects" or if it's something they made up on the spot. If it was true, they should have mentioned it in the casting call, to prevent things like this....

I suppose the casting directors should get points for saving everyone's time by being openly racist.

Surprised they didn't go the more subtle route and say they're "looking for Gary Dougan types".

QUIT YOUR SNIVELING....The industry is about a specific look If the role calls for a blonde hot thin bikini model. Im not going to sue or show up to the interview if I'm a fat brunette that doesn't own a swimsuit. This is absurd! The media is what stirs up these race issues. Cut it out TMZ. This is not the type of news I come to TMZ for....=)

TMZ, I DON'T BLAME ACURA FOR "IGNORING" YOUR AZZEZ!!! The title of this web article is "SOMEWHAT" DECEPTIVE. ACURA DID NOTHING WRONG!!! The casting director "DID NOT" state "ONLY LIGHT SKINNED" African American men will be considered for this role. In fact, the actor who was "ACTUALLY HIRED" WOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED A "LIGHT SKINNED" AFRICAN AMERICAN!!! The gentlemen in this commercial has a "MEDIUM REDDISH BROWN" COMPLEXION!!! Paula Patton and Maya Rudolph's complexions would be considered "FAIR OR LIGHT-SKINNED"!!! Being an African American, I can understand "WHY" the brotha is "PISSED" but he needs to "MAN-UP" and "GET OVER IT"!!! Although there is a historically do***ented preference for "LIGHTER SKINNED" minorities, overall, I see more African Americans of "MEDIUM AND DARKER" complexions working in both television and film. It's much harder trying to break into acting when "ACTING" is your primary means to receive name recognition. Singers, comics, rappers and athletes have "established" fan bases that producers want to tap into that helps guarantee the success of their productions. Many African Americans who are simply "actors/actresses" have usually been pounding the pavement just like all other racial groups for years until they get a big break. It takes a while to establish relationships with fellow actors, casting directors and producers if you don't have your own established fan base. Branching out into other "high profile" endeavors is always helpful. George Clooney and Angelina Jolie are good examples to consider.

its ok, blacks never do get over anything. they are still crying about slavery which ended 150 years ago. no matter how much we white people give them and do for them they are never happy, its never enough. look, i am sorry you got stuck being black and you have to live that way, but there is nothing more that can be done for you, so instead of constantly fighting us, why dont you just try to get along with us amd mix in like every other race does?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
@paul kersey
YOU'RE OBVIOUSLY A "LOSER" WHO SPENDS YOUR ENTIRE LIFE WITH HIS HEAD STUCK UP HIS "AZZ"!!! WHITE PEOPLE, IN GENERAL, "DO NOT" WANT TO SOCIALIZE WITH PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF THEIR RACE UNLESS IT'S A NECESSITY!!! AMONG "YOUNGER" PEOPLE, YOU'LL SEE MUCH MORE INTERACTION BUT GIVEN A CHOICE, WHITE PEOPLE WILL "FLY LIKE THE WIND" WHEN THEY SEE THEIR NEIGHBORHOODS BECOMING TOO INTEGRATED!!! AS LONG AS "NON-WHITES" LIVE IN PRIMARILY "RUN DOWN" CAST OFF NEIGHBORHOODS AND HOLD MINIMUM WAGE JOBS -- FOR WHITE FOLKS -- IT'S ALL GOOD!!! THAT WAY THEY CAN "PRETEND" TO BE EMPATHIC AND NOT HAVE TO INTERACT WITH PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF THEIR RACE WHICH HAS DONE NOTHING EXCEPT "REINFORCE" THEIR FALSE SENSE OF SUPERIORITY!!! RACISM AND "ELITISM" GO HAND-IN-HAND!!!
This wasn't a big deal until someone made a big deal out of it. Was it TMZ that brought this to light (pun intended)?
