'Bachelor' Racism Lawsuit

Producers Encourage

White Power Mentality

The producers of "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette" are responsible for encouraging racism across the country by refusing to cast black people in the shows' central roles -- this according to a new class action lawsuit.

Christopher Johnson and Nathaniel Claybrooks filed the lawsuit today in Tennessee federal court against the shows' producers -- claiming they both auditioned for "The Bachelor" in Nashville in August 2011 ... but were brazenly denied based solely on the color of their skin.

Christopher and Nathaniel claim producers were afraid to cast them for fear of alienating "the show's majority-white viewership."

As a result, the guys claim producers are teaching the public how to be racist -- by demonstrating preferences for white relationships over non-white and interracial relationships.

They might have a point too ... because the show has never once cast a person of color -- black, Asian, Latino, whatever -- in the central role as Bachelor or Bachelorette.

"Bachelor" creator Michael Fleiss has even acknowledged the problem -- stating long before the lawsuit was filed ... "We always want to cast for ethnic diversity. It's just that for whatever reason, they don't come forward. I wish they would."

Chris and Nathaniel are now demanding a change in "Bachelor" policy -- requiring producers to "consider persons of color as finalists for the role of the Bachelor and the Bachelorette."

Oh yeah, they also want money -- an unspecified amount of punitive damages.

There's a Black Miss America, Black History Month and BET. Black people segregate themselves by creating these "black only" situations and then cry when they don't get included in EVERYTHING!

You want to be treated equally? Then treat others equally and stop acting as if you're so entitled!

On another note, who the picked out that guy's suit, shirt and tie? So wrong on so many levels!

I'll admit...the show is interesting because it has pretty people on it. If you stick Leroy and Quashanda on it not so interesting. It would turn into Flavor of Love with Flavor flav lmao

I actually know some people who do casting for shows like these and I was told that the answer is actually VERY simple. They may very well have plenty of qualified people who could be the lead role, but the trick comes when they ask that person what KIND of person they'd consider dating, and that includes skin color, age, divorcees, kids, etc. They then have to find numerous people who fit those qualifications who would be willing to date someone like the person in the lead role, then THOSE people have to pass all of the background checks, etc. If in that pool of people they can't find enough people to create a pool of 20+ people that will make a good show, then they don't go with them. It's not rocket science here.

It really has nothing to do with race... they have had people of color on the show. The problem is getting ENOUGH people as a group that the producers feel will make a good show. If they can't get enough people willing to "date" a certain person, no matter their color, they won't be on the show.

Ive always wondered why there are no other denominations besides 20-something and white. I am 20-something and white.. so what?... I find the absence of mixed races/attitudes/backgrounds VERY boring and elitist.

So BET is not racist? The blacks would be up in arms if we had White Entertainment Television. Bunch of greedy morons.

Blacks are becoming real pathetic in this country. This is not the dream the great Doctor King was talking about.

Its very clear ABC purposely avoids choosing asians and blacks from being the lead in the Bachelor/Bachelorette show. I just don't see what these men want to accomplish? The show is on its way out and the lion's share of any settlement will go to the lawyers. The only thing more embarrassing that being turned down by ABC for the Bachelor is to stand as the lead plaintiff against ABC.
