Lane Garrison to Detectives

The Video Is Deceiving

I Never Hit Her

4/24/2012 1:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

Lane Garrison
-- who is sitting in jail after being arrested Sunday for felony domestic violence -- told Beverly Hills detectives Monday he never struck his ex-girlfriend, and he says the surveillance video proves it.

Lane and his ex-girlfriend, Ashley Mattingly, got into a verbal argument that turned physical Saturday night and the surveillance video, obtained by TMZ, shows Lane with what looks like an outstretched, closed fist make contact with Ashley's face.

But Lane told detectives ... what really happened was that Ashley had grabbed his cell phone and the video actually shows him reaching to grab his phone back -- NOT striking her.

GARRISSON_FIGHT_2Large-Video-Launch
Lane says he ended up getting Ashley's cell phone, and that's when she threw his phone against the wall and smashed it. He says when he walked out, he childishly threw her cell phone in retaliation.

When you look at the surveillance video closely, Lane's scenario is plausible.

Our sources also say Lane told detectives there are text messages from Ashley that are incriminating and that's why they were fighting over the cell phone -- she didn't want him disclosing any of the info she sent to him.

DUDE HAS A POINT. THE VIDEO DOESNT SHOW THE ENTIRE BODY FRAME SO YOU DONT SEE HIM ACTUALLY STRIKING HER. ALSO, THE CHIC'S FOTOS DONT SHOW ANYTHING LIKE ABRASIONS, BRUISES, BUT RATHER DERMATOLOGY ISSUES. IT'S POSSIBLE HE SWUNG TO GRAB FOR HIS FONE AND THE FONE ACTUALLY STRUCK HER WITH THE FORCE OF THE SWING. SOUNDS LIKE A DEADLOCK CASE. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME. YAAAWWWN. #TRUTH!!

WHAT IS THE "PLAUSIBLE" EXPLANATION FOR HER BUMPS AND BRUISES? AND WHY WAS HE SITTING OUTSIDE HER BUILDING WAITING FOR HER, AND THEN RAN TO HER CAR WHEN SHE ARRIVED, IF HE WAS JUST THERE TO WALK A FRIENDS DOG? AND WHAT IS THE "PLAUSIBLE" EXPLANATION FOR HIS SWERVING WHEN HE WALKED?

You guys are all HATERS!!!! I believe Lane!!! and I always said that video was doctored. The truth was just as he originally said. He was dog sitting and was sitting in the lobby, reading the Bible, minding his business then he saw THAT GIRL, he felt threatened, so he followed her. He then called 911 to report the suspicious person---because she was wearing a hoody---the cops told him to stop following her-- but because he was still fear for his life he continued to follower her until eventually a fight broke out so he shot her in self-defense. Later the cops and DA investigated and decided that he was within his rights under the "Stand Your Ground" law and that's the real truth.

Uh, anyone notice how he was walking and holding onto that handrail. This guy obviously has other issues besides domestic violence. Dude needs rehab. Isn't drinking how he ended up in prison in the first place?

Even if he did slap her, so what? It's a slap. I shouldn't be a felony; or even a misdemeanor. You people should stop blindly taking this woman's side simply because she's a woman and that's the PC thing to do.

Oh, right, because he’s just SOOOOOOOO honest, isn’t he? How’s that dog he was in the building to babysit...wait, that was just a bunch of BS, I forgot. He was just in her building, drunk, in the middle of the night to harass her. Yeah, no bad intentions there. What she needs is a restraining order - if he’s stupid enough to pull this crap once he’ll do it again and she might not be so lucky next time.

Well, hitting someone is assault.

Forcibly taking someone else's phone from them is assault combined with theft.

Throwing someone else's phone into the street is property destruction.

Way to confess you ****ing idiot.

"When you look at the surveillance video closely, Lane's scenario is plausible"
I agree, it looks like it's either:
1) a very light slap, with less than 4 inches of swing space, not enough to kill a fly
2) or, not a slap at all, could just as well be a simple hand movement
3) and it doesn't appear that his hand ever actually hit her face
Either way, the video shows more of a mutual physical struggle, not one-sided.

Since she clearly have 2 cells, one in each hand its must have been a hit and grab ? I think he can be telling the truth.
