'Hunger Games' Star

Tricks Grocery Store

Into Selling Him Whiskey

4/28/2012 6:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

Josh Hutcherson took a not-so-cheap shot at a Ralphs Grocery store
19-year-old "Hunger Games" star Josh Hutcherson took a not-so-cheap shot at a Ralph's Grocery store -- he posed as over 21 and got the check out clerk to sell him an expensive bottle of whiskey.

We got this pic of Josh leaving the Ralph's in Sherman Oaks on April 18 with a bottle of Macallan whisky in hand -- which, by the way, goes for $170.

A source tells TMZ ... Josh used a fake ID to score the bottle.

It's interesting ... a few weeks ago we got Josh on camera, grousing, "I think the age to go to war is 18 ... so I think the drinking age should be 18 as well."

A spokesperson for Ralphs tells TMZ, "We strictly enforce all laws relating to the sale of alcohol to minors.  We will investigate these allegations and take any steps necessary."

Josh could be prosecuted and the maximum punishment is 6 months in jail, although in reality he'd spend no time behind bars.  Authorities could also go after Ralph's for selling to a minor.

We reached out to Josh's rep.  So far, no comment.

So this tool is a alcoholic and since his rich, spoiled ass wanted a drink, he didn't care about getting some poor sap fired. If he really wanted a drink THAT bad, why not send of your enabling assistants who's old enough to buy it out to get it??? He's a 19 year old celebrity, using a FAKE ID TO BUY BOOZE and doesn't even try to hide it.

What a douche.

hmmm

For all you using the 'can go to war should be able to drink' argument, you need to understand the federal age is 18, and thats why you can drink on base, its federal property. The individual State laws have the potential to be a patchwork of ages (as they were in the past) but since federal road funding amounts are connected to increased drinking age most if not all States are now 21. As for a Canadian's activism concerning laws in the US, if he wants to continue to break the law to do it, perhaps his immigration status should be reviewed. Really stupid move on his part not to have one of his of age hangers-on buy the stuff for him

he is he reason the drinking age should not be dropped. Stupid kid making stupid decisions is bad enough. A drunk legal drinking age adult is bad as well.,.. however... A drunk AND stupid kid making stupid decisions is worse than both.

I agree, in theory, with the idea that if you are old enough to serve (18), you are old enough to drink (21). That being said, why don't we allow people to purchase and consume alcohol provided that they have either a) a valid ID showing that they are 21 or b) a valid military ID showing that they are active armed forces personnel. Problem solved. And Josh still couldn't but alcohol, as he is not serving his country at this time, portrayals of Peeta aside.

TMZ....the new alcohol monitors. I'm sure none of the people working at TMZ EVER drank under 21, smoked under 18, or did illegal drugs. What is the point of TMZ running these stories...to show these people they are psychotic by following them everywhere, or to show them they have the entire worlds best interest at stake when they narcs like this? Because we all know TMZ is about doing the right and moral thing….yeah, right….I’ll go with the first one.

Really TMZ? You couldnt just leave out the location of which Ralphs it was? Really horrible that someone is going to lose their job because of this little jerk with his smug little smirk. Non violent usually but man my hand is just itching to slap this little twit.

Go after Ralph's, are you kidding?
This kid is making a mockery of the store, he's the one that broke the law with his fake ID and even attempting to purchase liquor. His statement from the previous week should have indicated he would risk making a purchase while underage. The store clerks are not at fault. When are people going to accept responsibility for their own actions and stop passing it on to others?
