'Hunger Games' Star

Tricks Grocery Store

Into Selling Him Whiskey

4/28/2012 6:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Josh Hutcherson took a not-so-cheap shot at a Ralphs Grocery store
19-year-old "Hunger Games" star Josh Hutcherson took a not-so-cheap shot at a Ralph's Grocery store -- he posed as over 21 and got the check out clerk to sell him an expensive bottle of whiskey.

We got this pic of Josh leaving the Ralph's in Sherman Oaks on April 18 with a bottle of Macallan whisky in hand -- which, by the way, goes for $170.

A source tells TMZ ... Josh used a fake ID to score the bottle.

It's interesting ... a few weeks ago we got Josh on camera, grousing, "I think the age to go to war is 18 ... so I think the drinking age should be 18 as well."

A spokesperson for Ralphs tells TMZ, "We strictly enforce all laws relating to the sale of alcohol to minors.  We will investigate these allegations and take any steps necessary."

Josh could be prosecuted and the maximum punishment is 6 months in jail, although in reality he'd spend no time behind bars.  Authorities could also go after Ralph's for selling to a minor.

We reached out to Josh's rep.  So far, no comment.

Josh is almost 20, the legal age is 21. I go to school with people who are 16 and 17 and buy alcohol and NO ONE freaks out about it. Josh is super famous, i'm pretty sure almost everyone knows how old he is, so this cashier has some blame too for selling to a minor. Yes, it's bad, but its America people, calm your tits

This kid is rich and famous and he is unable to fly up to Canada or to any other country and drink where it's legal? He's going to be in rehab by age 25.

if the drinking age was 18 none of this would have happened. he wanted a drink, big deal. people are dying everyday and we blow this out of proportion because he was in a movie. seriously get the fck over yourselves. they're are 14 and 15 year olds doing the exact same thing. shouldn't you be more concerned about them then this douche??

If that employee loses their job over this stunt maybe they could sue the little punk. It would serve him right!

Oh my God shut up!! no one is going to lose their job A) because his fake ID was obviously a good one and B) who the fok expects a teenager to buy a $170 bottle of whiskey?! there's no way the store employee will lose his/her job over this ONE incident!

Yeah but you can tell by the picture that he wasn't happy about it.

He committed FRAUD, used a fake ID, and it's the store's fault? NO F-N-Way!

why is this a big deal? how many americans have actually waited until they were 21 to start drinking. This is not news TMZ, guess what, most americans do the same ALL THE TIME.
And no one believes the whole "a source tells TMZ" bullsh*t anymore.

17 year olds (with parental consent) can also join the military. I joined the Army at 17. 17-20 year olds are too young for that liquid drug. It never crossed my mind, even at the age of 19, to drink an alcoholic beverage. Now I am over the age of 21. I can't stand the taste and smell of alcoholic beverages. They're not for me. :)

again... who cares.... if some sold him alcohol.... it would have happened anyway.... ughh.

If the store clerk should be TIPS or Servsafe certified. Where he would have learned how to spot a fake id or the store should have an id scanner.

Josh is such a terrible person for doing what 90% of Americans his age do.
