Wrestling Legend Sabu

Rushed to the Hospital

Before Event

Exclusive Details

Sabu -- a hardcore wrestling icon  -- was rushed to the hospital before a scheduled event tonight in Pennsylvania ... TMZ has learned.

Cops in Travose, PA tell TMZ they were dispatched to a hotel for a medical emergency, but wouldn't elaborate. The manager at the hotel where Sabu was staying tells TMZ the staff there felt the wrestler was intoxicated when paramedics were called.

A source close to Sabu tells TMZ he had been MIA all day and promoters for an ECW reunion event he was scheduled to appear at could not get in touch with him.

According to our source, Sabu had an allergic reaction to a medication he had been taking.

Sabu is one of the top-billed wrestlers at the Extreme Reunion tonight, but we're told he'll be a no-show.

A rep for the event tells TMZ, "Sabu was found unresponsive in his hotel room earlier today when event staff went to his room to pick him up for tonight's show. Management is currently awaiting results from his doctors to find out what actually happened."

The rep continues, "All we know is that he had prior health issues that might have been a contributing factor. We're pulling for him and are very concerned for his health. We wish him the best of luck in his recovery."

A spokesperson for the WWE tells TMZ ..."We have reached out to Sabu in the past as part of our Former Talent Rehabilitation Program. We will continue to offer him assistance."

Cognizant _illiberal

wrestlers of the "extreme" and "dramatic" genre have one of the highest percent of suicide, and overdose deaths among professional performers along with pornography performers, it is really interesting types of people who go into that type of business

I love when people post simple comments on anything wrestling related about soap operas for men , or it being fake or staged usually accompanied by a who could watch this? who cares? or move , in a condasending tone as if there teaching somebody something they didnt already know. Do these people that do this feel more intelligent afterwards? It just makes you look stupid.

I hope the homicidal, genocidal, suicidal, death-defying Sabu will be ok. He put the Extreme in Extreme Championship Wrestling and is one of my all time favorite wrestlers.

Heart attack or stroke from steroids? That would be my guess.

First off, I hope Sabu gets well soon. And YES! he is a legend.

It seems people are under the delusion that all wrestlers use steroids. Sorry, but that is not the case. I think in Sabus case it's a matter of prescription drug and alcohol. Maybe it may be the new meds ... but even those with alcohol may be a bad mix...Just saying.

I just got in from Extreme Reunion [The show he was suppose to be at] and yeah he was a no show. The head of tonight's show Shane Douglas, acknowledged that Sabu was in the hospital but didn't give any info. He just went on a rampage on how wrestlers from ECW don't take **** from anyone and don't hide behind what they did and some other bull****. But I really wished they would of told people Sabu wasn't coming. I mean, all those people, I of them came from Sabu and we didn't find out 20mins till the end of the event about Sabu. It was a really disappointment. Anyway... I wish him the best and hope he makes it through it cause if he doesn't, a lot of people will be missing him.

Sad to hear about this. Sabu is a great guy. Been in the ring with him a few times. It amazes me though that a lot of people on here just classify us as moron dopeheads. I'm not gonna sit here and say people in the business don't have issues, but until all the facts are in can we maybe just give people the benefit of the doubt.
