Junior Seau
was honored today when more than 1,000 people "paddled out" in the ocean to pay their respects to the NFL legend.

The water-based memorial took place in Oceanside, CA this afternoon -- directly in front of his beachfront home -- and allowed friends, neighbors and locals to mourn the superstar together. Surfers were heard chanting his name and jersey number as they gathered in the ocean.

Seau was known to be an avid surfer.

Seau died Wednesday from a self-inflicted gun shot wound to the chest. He was 43.

Seau WAS a great man and nice all around guy. He WAS a lot of things, but now that he took the easy way out, committed suicide, he is NOT a martyr. How do you honor someone that thinks so damn little of his family and friends?

Very nice tribute. I would like to think it was an accident. He tripped, gone went off.

Irish2Ice, you cannot judge a man until you have walked in his shoes. Just saying.

I would not want to be out on a surfboard in that dense a cluster of people. Way too dangerous even if you are an expert surfer.

How about smashing your head against a wall a few hundred times then see if your brain is functioning as it should. If your brain is screwed up you do things that no normal or rational person would do.

TMZ needs to remove some of the clutter from the site and stop telling us when a D list celeb gets a parking ticket. Comments are way down because people are leaving TMZ for other sites. I think TMZ may be like Myspace in 2 years, just a relic

There are people out there dealing with real disease and afflictions fighting their ass off to live so you'll forgive me if I can't muster up any sympathy for for a guy who chooses to take his own life.

I get what IRISH and Maynerd are saying. It is obviously a very sad situtuation. And I understand the man was in pain and some people just can't take it anymore. But the friends and family do have to be considered in this.

Now I'm not trying to be judgemental towards the man. But if he was taking others feelings into consideration at all, he would have ATLEAST made sure that someone that loves him didn't find him.

My brother committed suicide and his KIDS found him. Finding the body just adds on to what the people left behind are going to have to deal with. INFACT, at my bro's funeral one of his kids was so upset about finding the body she couldn't even mourn, she was too ANGRY, and she let it be known by saying pretty much what IRISH did when it was her chance to speak.

Ofcource people feel terrible for the guy. But a little anger is allowed too in a situation like this.

Anyway, it looked like a beautiful tribute. RIP
