Britney Spears

In NYC for 'X Factor' Announcement

5/14/2012 7:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
EXCLUSIVE

051412_britney_spears_launchBritney Spears is getting all gussied up for the big announcement today -- that she and Demi Lovato will join "X Factor" as the new judges.

Negotiations went right down to the wire between Britney and "X Factor" honchos. Her fiance, Jason Trawick, who you also see in the video, along with daddy Jamie Spears (not in video) signed the deal since they are Britney's conservators.

Britney didn't talk as she walked around her hotel -- the swanky Mandarin Oriental, but she did faintly nod affirmatively when asked if she was excited to work with Demi.

One funny thing ... In the clip you also see "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson, who says the additions of Britney and Demi to "X Factor" are "hot." Randy clearly knows where his bread is buttered.

FOX will make the announcement at the Upfronts today. Britney and Demi will be front and center.

Brittney needs to get out of show business, go home to Lousianna, take care of her kids and herself. She doesn't need the stress of show biz. She is fragile.

Now if Simon would just leave, and take his ego with him.

Say bye-bye X Factor.

Hiring a girl who hasn't sang a note in at least a decade and hiring an 18 year-old to judge a singing competition is beyond stupid. It's laughing at people who watch the show.

This is your last year and you can bet I won't be watching your crap.

She's not qualified to judge a lip syncing contest. Scratch that, she's only qualified to judge a lip syncing contest.

If the "X Factor" means being prone to emotional breakdowns and rehab stints, then Britney and Demi are excellent choices.

I am so over Britney! Like really who cares if she does "X Factor"... She is a MAJOR has-been who is desperately trying to remain relavent... Do we even know if she actually wants to do this or is this the making of co-conservators who want to make a quick buck off Britney's back??? Since she legally cannot make decisions on her own... this raises an eyebrow to see if she can actually handle this situation. I bet 50/50 people that tune in either want to see her succeed OR want to see her spiral out of control again because it'll be too much for her to handle. Having your finance as someone who watches over your finances is not living, its maintaining. I know I wouldn't want my husband to tell me how and when to spend MY money that I earned!!! If she cannot handle her own finances, maybe she should take a moment and re-evaluate her life and take a BREAK!!!

How can one judge talent when one has no talent?

The X factor is a British show that didn't work in America. Simon needs to accept his failure and move on.

all about the money

Brit on X Factor....guess means wont be watching X Factor this season. Show was on the ropes last year getting worse ratings than expected. Doubt the change in line ups will help this year. As some will watch because of Brit, got to hope they balance out those that wont watch because of her. Besides as far as singing talent shows go...American Idol is out dated, X Factor didn't deliver, I will keep my singing talent viewing to The Voice.

Simon hired Paula to be a judge... twice. What, did you expect him to hire qualified people this time?

He obviously has a fondness for having unstable, vulnerable women on his shows. Probibly for the possibility of one of them snapping on live tv, thereby causing the ratings to jump.

Not biting this time Simon.

Britney Spears, she might have her breakdown, and all, so what? if a person who is not strong enough mentally, that person will not plan to make a comeback or even want to make a comeback if another person FORCES. logically thinking, if you say Britney is yesterday's news, people won't be talking about her nowadays whether criticizing her or praising her. if britney isn't talented, than, i don't think people like pink, beyonce or even micheal jackson will respect her and admire her as an artist. get your brain out of your ass before criticizing her. but i do agree that, maybe she's not fit in judging X-Factor, because, well, i agree, she got too many to handle, too many take on, as a mother, a singer, and now a judge on a show? yikes~

Britney Spears is a highly successful veteran of the music industry and will be a valuable and credible addition to this show. I look forward to watching now that she is on-board.
