Cover Band to Van Halen

Finish What Ya Started ...

or We Will!

EXCLUSIVE

0520_van_halen_van_halen_army_getty_facebookA Van Halen cover band says that if the real Van Halen is too "burnt out" and too old to finish their postponed tour dates ... they are more than happy to take over.

Van Halen (the real one) cancelled the remainder of their 2012 tour on Friday, saying they needed to "re-charge their engines." They will be offering refunds for all the disappointed fans.

Joe -- who plays guitar in the Van Halen Army, a popular VH tribute band -- tells TMZ, "They have an obligation to fulfill ... somebody signs up to do the job they should complete it. Concerts these days cost a lot of money, they can't let the fans down ... they need to fulfill their end of the deal."

Joe also says, "We could easily do it -- our singer sounds exactly like David Lee Roth!"

Yeah, totally the same thing.

Some perspective. Van Halen 78-84 was second to none. Van Halen with sammy hagar was like having a Mercedez Benz with one flat tire. This current line-up of Van Halen Lite with Ed's son Wolfie is sort of like a moped with one flat tire.

Wolfie van Halen is reading this story while gourging on a huge box of chocolate doughnuts and a vat of orange soda. R.I.P.

Sounding exactly like David Lee Roth is probably not something to brag about. His voice has been shot a long time.

Sometimes it's fun to see a cover band, in your own town, for free or a cheap cover charge. But if you bought tickets for the real thing, that won't do, and these guys sound like aholes for suggesting it would and especially for criticizing the real band. Be in the biz and rock and tour for as long as Van Halen has and then we'll talk. In the meantime, piss off, tribute band.

No one is gonna pay to see some sh!**y cover band in place of the real Van Halen! I wouldn't even want to pay a cover charge to see a sh!**y cover band plan in a bar!!! The last time I saw Van Halen was in 1992... tickets were only $20 back then... I just can't bring myself to pay $80+ for cheap seat tickets to see them play the same music they did 20 years ago. They should retire and live off residuals.

Seriously! VH is pitiful anyway, trying to hold on to what once was. (And what hasn't been for nigh on 30 years.) Shoulda stuck with Sammy, at least then it was decent music and not hiccupy DLR. I'd rather see the cover band, if they really kick it!
