Richard Belzer

at TV Festival

6/12/2012 2:04 PM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

2:44 PM PDT -- Belzer has issued a statement to TMZ ... saying, "My grandfather represented Israel in the UN before it was made a nation. I'm a Jewish comedian, and there's this new thing out, it's called satire, irony and historical reference."

He adds, "To say that a Jew can't do that gesture as homage to Chaplin's masterpiece, 'The Great Dictator' is like Muslim extremists killing a cartoonist for disparaging Mohammed in his art."

2:32 PM PDT --
A rep for Belzer tells TMZ ... Richard was involved in a conversation with a reporter about the Charlie Chaplin movie, "The Great Dictator" ... when Richard decided to re-enact a scene from the movie when Charlie's character gave a mock Nazi salute.

The rep says Belzer is a "Jewish comedian" and is upset and insulted that anyone would assume he would deliver the Nazi salute in a "negative" way.

"Law & Order" star Richard Belzer threw up the Nazi salute on the red carpet at a TV festival in Monte Carlo earlier today ... because he's an idiot.

67-year-old Belzer -- who reportedly grew up in a Jewish family -- also stuck two fingers on his upper lip, in what appears to be an attempt to simulate the infamous Hitler mustache.

Belzer also bent over and stuck his ass out at the paparazzi ... for some unknown reason.

0612_RICHARD_BELZER_rameyIt's not the first time Belzer has thrown the Nazi salute in public -- he pulled the "Heil Hitler" schtick during an appearance on Hannity back in 2009.

Um, this article is stupid.
You report on bull**** reality "stars" but none of you have seen the Charlie Chaplin classic "The Great Dictator". Who wrote this piece? I want to know! To write a piece of garbage article about a Jewish actor mocking Hitler and try to spin it like HE is the *******. Shame on you guys. Thanks FOX news for the legitimate reporting.

Awwwww, some people's feelings got hurt by this. Therefore, we must ban any reference to Hitler to prevent anybody else's feelings from getting hurt. That's a very Nazi-ish thing to be doing, banning free speech.

Its a Hollywood Jewish thing- Almost every Jew, and especially "so-called" comedians have thrived on this kind of thing since Hollywood was born- They have taken everything to the limit, if it makes them SHECKLES or for attention-- They will say and do anything for that!! They get away with way to much FILTH and Decadence- thats why they do it!!!

If all of you Jews that work at TMZ are so concerned with this, hope in the plane and go back to middle east and fight the Arabs that are ready to take back Jerusalem. You guys are hair trigger sensitive. You guys bithc more than Black people when in fact they are the ones that got FKD the most. As a mater of fact in the 1490's after Spain kicked you out, you Jews started to Slave Trading Blacks in the Atlantic. FKN JERK OFF's

Didn't Joan Rivers used to exclaim ... "Who Let You Outta The Oven ?!?" Come on, it's even funnier when a Jew says it.

Has anyone noticed how liberals are able to use sarcasm in any context they like, yet others get blasted for making similar references?

so Jewish people can't do the "Nazi Salute" but African Americans can say the "N" word whenever and were ever they want.... makes perfect sense. They both have the same meaning and were used in the same negative way towards the different races. Nazi Germans used the salute to hail Hitler which was a negative derogatory statement towards Jewish people. While the "N" word was used negative derogatory statement towards the African American citizens. The only difference was that Hitler was killing the Jewish and we were using the Africans as slaves.

"upset and insulted that anyone would assume he would deliver the Nazi salute in a "negative" way. "
So, there's a "positive" way to deliver the Nazi salute?
Is there a positive way to burn a cross too?

Once again, TMZ trying to make an issue out of nothing. TMZ should buy the domain

Sorry, but anyone who has EVER seen ANY of the stuff he's done A) knows he's Jewish and B) knows he has a caustic sense of humour.
