Will Smith and Jada

Mum's the Word

on TomKat Divorce

7/3/2012 6:06 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

070312_will_smith_splash_launchWill Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have a decision to make ... 'cause now that their good friends Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are in the middle of a nasty divorce, they've gotta pick a side.

Will and Jada were pretty tight with TomKat -- they famously attended the couple's wedding at an Italian castle back in 2006.

The Smiths flew in to LAX yesterday, even though they weren't talking about the split ... but the smart money is on the couple siding with Tom ... because Will has gone out of his way to defend the star in the media, especially when it comes to Scientology.

In fact, back in 2007 Will told "60 Minutes," "When I sit and I talk with Tom Cruise, he is one of the greatest spirits that I’ve ever met – someone who is committed to making the world better."

He added, "You have people [that] are attacking and wanna fight that don’t know nothing — how you gonna not know nothing about Scientology and attack somebody? It’s dangerous and it’s ignorant."

“How can I condemn someone for what they believe and I believe that God was born from a pregnant virgin?”

Uh, Will, how are you going to "not know nothing" about Scientology and defend it? Being only exposed to what Tom Cruise has to say about Scientology is like only being exposed to Hitler's views about the Jewish race.

What an idiotic statement from WS...he is basically saying 'how can I believe that someone else is ridiculous if I am ridiculous?'
Dumbarse, if emmaculate conception is so out of the realm of possibility and ridiculous to you, then you don't really believe it, either. How the hell is that an analogy?
BTW, last I checked, you do not have to invest in a Ponzi scheme to enter a Catholic Church, a Mosque, a Temple. And if they were injecting mentally ill people with saline solution to "cure" them in a Lutheran Church, I would want them shut down, too.
We hold priests responsible for the damage they have caused, and lament (in sweeping national broadcasts) how the church tries to buy their way out of molestation charges...yet, point out in a Wiki article that Scientologists routinely threaten people, and all hell breaks loose.
It's called a CULT. It's not entirely voluntary once you are in.
Besides, WS, the Virgin Mary concept? Way more navigable than the idea of nuclear volcanos littered with evil psychiatrists.

Christians will usually refer to God and Jesus Christ as the same. To us, Jesus is our God. That interchange is okay. Everyone is splitting hairs about that and skirting around his point. There are a lot of people who don't believe in Heaven and that Jesus died on the cross and resurrected so we can have eternal life with him after death. They think we're crazy. I feel like a lot more kids are being taught to question that, and believe what they want. I'm one of those people that think, you don't believe in God? Hope you don't go to hell. ARE we being hypocrits?

It's ignorant to use a double negative, Mr. Smith.

Why is it that Tom Cruise and his supporters in articles claim that he knows so much and is committed to changing the world? What has he done, said or indicated that makes him so magnificent? The man is an actor, has earned a great deal doing so, buys houses and other expensive items executive produces his projects…ok I get that he is successful…but how is that committed to making the world a better place? For whom besides himself and his kids? Is that **** and bull line the dribble scientology teaches it’s minions to spout when the reality is it’s all about big egos and self improvement?

He also should believe that you can't be saved unless you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. So, insinuating that Tom can find his own way through Scientology is wrong.

In deed, Tom's a good man, sincere, honest about what he thinks, feels, and believes, doesn't back down when waves of idiots come at him, and remains one of the most steadfast strong public figures...so does Will, good man and good dad ;)

wow...that statement Will made speaks volumes about him. First of all, anyone with the ability to google can see do***ented evidence of what Scientology really is about, not the propoganda they sell Hollywood and the media and their members. He is probably never going to know what it is like to work 100 hour week for $50, or have to sign a billion year contract, or have to be in the Hole for looking at someone. He is a mediocre talent, mediocre looks, and totally in the closet, why else would he stick up for all the other closeted gay stars in Scientology, Travolta, Cruise, the you, dear Will, it is a cult for closet cases and their well paid beards. I hope Katie rips the lid off of their lies, btw, that last statement he said speaks volumes of how freaking stupid Will really is. Most people who question Scientology already know more than enough about it to question it.
