Suri Cruise

Triggered Divorce Settlement

EXCLUSIVE

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise went from zero to nuclear war in an instant when she filed divorce papers, but it was little Suri who became the peacemaker ... sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ.

Our sources say ... a week ago Thursday, after Katie filed, the hostility between the two was palpable and Suri became a weapon. Katie wanted to strip Tom of all decision-making power in Suri's life, and Tom responded by unleashing the biggest legal guns around to fight her.

We're told what turned everything around was a series of conversations that Suri would be irreparably damaged by parental warfare. It registered big time with both Tom and Katie, and it allowed their lawyers to strike a deal in what could be record time for this type of divorce.

Fact is ... it generally takes celebs in these high-profile divorces a lot longer to realize how bitterness affects small kids, so credit to both.

Quick settlement; somebody named Tom must have done something naughty. Here's hoping Katie and Suri can now breathe and live life semi-normally.

No one knows what goes on inside a marriage. But religion/or a belief system is usually a part of it, either practiced or not. I really don't believe that Katie knew the extreme side of COS when she hooked up w/him. As time went on the sparkle wore off and realized what was happening she knew it was time to leave. And like any good mother, not going w/out my kid.
It makes you wonder, Conor & Isabella were adopted & they lived w/him. Why is it this is supposed to be his "biological" child and its seems like this was settled quickly. Things that make you go hmmmm

Nice to hear that sometimes even in Hollywood, the adults put the kids needs first. It doesn't make Katie and Tom anything but responsible parents. Now they just need to keep it civil for Suri's sake.

I don't think I was quite prepared for the amount of hate that this article spawned. The reasons they were able to quickly work out a divorce deal is less important than the fact that they did. Divorce is always hard on the kids, but a house full of turmoil is much worse. I'm glad they are handling this like adults and looking out for Suri's best interest.

She knows all his secrets. He didn't want them to come out. That's why he caved so quick, because she was willing to spill them to the press if she didn't get custody. Nice try on the spin, Co$.

Such BS. This is pure Scientology spin and damage contol and Cruise doing damage control on his image. Cruise is trying to look like the good guy in this which he is not. Scientology told him to settle this now.

Cruise puts Scientology above all else. He would have no problem putting his little 6 yr old daughter through that SEC audit garbarge. Sea Org. or whatever. He would have no problem turning his daughter into a cult robot.

Suri 6 yrs old and primetime age for this cult. Holmes knew this and scared to death for her daughter.

Then why did Holmes do what she had to do to leave. Cruise and Scientology wouldn't let her leave so she had no choice doing what she did. Protecting her daughter.

The divorce settlement faster than the speed of light must be a world record. Holmes had whatever to have Cruise and Scientology by the short hairs to have this done this fast. Nothing to do with Cruise being a good guy mature. NO. It's all Scientology only they will not come right out and say that.

If Rachel Bilson's agent is reading this, can you ring me. I'd like to interview her for the position.

Unless I see the entire legal papers I think your "source" is full of it. And so is this pulp fiction article.

Is it at all possible Katie had in her arsenal a possibility of a blood test, a DNA test? Suri looks like Tommy Davis, Ann Archer's son.

while what people say here sounds plausible enough and buys into what every body knows around here and is peppered with real names from time to time, there is no concrete proof for most of it.

There are an untold number of lies inaccuracies exaggerations stories and fabrications posted on the web.

People spend hours calling people who made new accounts in these comments section "shills" "trolls" "plants" "scientologists" etc. Proof that they actually know the web is unmoderated and anyone can say anything but they cherry pick what they call a lie depending on what they are selling. If a person made new accounts to blast Scientology or undermine Tom Cruise in some way, those same people would not blink an eye.

Almost all of the blogs and articles are recycled opinions by one single person and then a million people repeat it and it seems like a mass of info. - OH WELL, THEN IT MUST BE TRUE?

People who by into internet stories are either naive or dishonest or lazy. I do not even know my on life that well most days and have to work hard to get it sorted out for myself, nor what I should do, oh, but you know about some celebrities out there are all about and what they are doing and should do and not do? Gimme a break.

facts are the kryptonite to these kinds of group speculation free-for-alls

as soon as facts arrive, people say "oh no that fact from the actual person involved must be a lie, so many people and articles cannot be wrong, somebody got paid off, I read it on a blog, how could we all be wrong?????blah blah blah" and other horseh-t like that

what is t-tilating, scandalous, controversial, juicy, like the movies, and contains murder, conspiracies, etc is what attracts and holds these types of internet audiences and that is what the masses buy into, like thoughtless conforming zombies - killing off anyone who won't join the agreement party. All the while. a small few sell advertising and make $ off the orgy.

Katie's lawyers said "sign here Tom and the world will never find out that Suri is not your biological child" and he said "ok". Simple as that.
