DC Comics is forbidding comic book retailers from selling the upcoming issue of a Batman comic book ... because it "contains content that may be perceived as insensitive" in the wake of the "Dark Knight" shooting in Colorado.

TMZ obtained an email DC sent comic book retailers last night asking them to HOLD the new issue of "Batman Inc." -- a fairly new comic book line featuring the Caped Crusader.

In the email, DC explains ... "Out of respect for the victims and families in Aurora, Colorado DC Entertainment has made the decision to postpone the release of BATMAN INCORPORATED #3 for one month because the comic contains content that may be perceived as insensitive in light of recent events."

The issue was originally scheduled to go on sale tomorrow, July 25 -- now DC is asking retailers to hold the issue until August 22.

I sense a flood of these being listed for hundreds of dollars on Ebay.

It makes me sick that I am even responding to this but I would just like to say that please keep this monsters face off of here he is not a star why report on him. I refuse to watch any thing about him or read anything. I think it is sickening also that they are giving this animal any attention by changing anything. They should just carry on as usual and not give him any more attention that needs to be given.

So the comic book stores, that are barely holding on these days, are expected to hold back on a popular product that will make them money? A product that they have already paid for? Most stores can't afford to do that. IN fact, they will have to sell it tomorrow. And hope people come in and buy other things while there.

That said Batman Incorporated is a pretty good book. If any of you wander into a comic book store.

ITS BECAUSE THE COMIC HAS A SCENE WHERE A GUNMAN GOES INTO A MOVIE THEATER AND OPENS FIRE ON THE CROWD. HONESTLY, NOBODY SHOULD HAVE THEIR BUSINESS STOPPED BECAUSE SOMEONE WAS OUT SHOOTING PEOPLE

They're just trying to demonstrate that they care. Maybe because they really do, just like alot of Americans, and definitely to protect their business, like every businessperson with half a brain would. James Holmes "won" the moment he was able to get in through the back door of the cinema, not when DC Comics made this decision.
