A&E's 'Cajun Justice'

New Sheriff FIRES Cast,

Show in Jeopardy

7/30/2012 4:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Well folks, there's a new Sheriff in town ... and what that means for the cast of A&E's hit reality show "Cajun Justice" is ... they're NO LONGER ON A REALITY SHOW.

If you didn't know ... "Cajun Justice" follows Sheriff Vernon Bourgeois and his team of deputies while they fight crime in the swamps of Louisiana ... that is until a new Sheriff took over (after filming wrapped) and decided to CLEAN HOUSE.

The Terrebonne Sheriff Dept. tells TMZ, the new head honcho -- a guy named Jerry Larpenter -- FIRED 24 people on his first day ... including 5 of the 7 cast members featured on the show. An additional 6th cast member quit to support his fellow comrades.

We're told ... not only did the new Sheriff can most the cast, but as of July 1, he banned producers from following ANYONE in his department.

Fortunately for producers, they had already shot enough footage to finish out Season 1 ... but there will be no NEW episodes featuring members of Larpenter's team.

The Terrebonne Sheriff's Dept. confirmed, "We are no longer participating in the A&E show."

It's unclear if A&E will scrap the show completely or attempt to find a new department to work with. Calls to A&E and the show's production company were not returned.

What this article fails to inform you of is that Larpenter is a much loved previous sheriff of Terrebonne Parish (see how I spelled that, TMZ?) that the citizens voted back into office because Bourgeois was crippling the force with needless expenditures (8 vehicles in the motor pool for his own personal use, a $300,000 boat that serves no purpose, etc.). The only reason Larpenter wasn't already the sheriff is because he decided not to run in the election the Bourgeois won. His cleaning house is something the TPSO desperately needed

This show is FANTASTIC if you really watch and the sheriff that they had was hands on and worked with his deputies...Sorry that anyone lost their job due to what is likely a power hungry jerk.

That's straight bull****. That new sheriff can kiss my ass. This was such a good show and for him to FIRE 5 police officers who did nothing but their job is bull**** also.

well the old sheriff is being indicted and that is why there is a new sheriff in town. Corruption was all over that department.

Too bad Vernon couldn't charge Larpenter with Corruption before he left office, oh yeah and lets not forget making false statements as he fired 24 good deputies for budgetary purposes and then hired about the same amount.
Oh and lets not also forget he is revamping "The Beat" t.v show in the same parish.
Sounds like an upstanding dude to me...NOT!!!

Show sounds stupid

FYI... the "new" sheriff is actually the old sheriff... Jerry Larpenter was sheriff here for over 20 years, while Vernon Bourgeois was a one-term sheriff.... This show was an embarrassment to the people of Terrebonne parish

To many of us in the area, the show was an embarrassment. But TMZ should get the facts straight. It is called lay-offs from poor budgeting. Nothing to do with the show. The "new" sheriff was the pevious sheriff before Bourgeois. He ran for parish president, hence removing himself from the sheriff position. I'm thinking TMZ is like the A&E producers, they report things that are not entirely true because the truth is too boring.

Almost all of these so called 'reality' shows make the particpants look like idiots! I've never seen this need...they are all 50% staged or restaged and heavily scripted....and the script rarel changes.

Personally, whether or not this show is fake, I'd rather law enforcement do their jobs and not be part of reality TV shows. That includes jails and prisons and the like. Oh! Except for Bait Car. I love bait car! LOL!

What I would really like, though, is that all you people read all of the comments first before posting yours. There may not be a need for your comment because it has already been written. We don't need 30+ posts informing us that there is a misspelling in the story. We really don't.
