NBC to Sharon Osbourne

We Didn't FIRE Jack O.

Over M.S. Diagnosis

NBC is lashing back at Sharon Osbourne ... claiming she was DEAD WRONG when she insisted the network fired her son from a reality show because he was recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

Sharon had told the media she was quitting her gig on "America's Got Talent" because NBC had "discriminated" against Jack Osbourne by dropping him from an upcoming reality show called, "Stars Earn Stripes" ... in which celebrities compete in various military-style physical challenges.

And to make matters worse, Sharon had claimed Jack was notified by e-mail ... just two days before production was set to begin.

But NBC claims Sharon is blowing the whole thing out of of proportion -- but admits the network decided to NOT ask Jack to participate as a contestant after going through vigorous medical screening.

NBC Chairman Bob Greenblatt explains, "We hold medical information in strict confidence and therefore cannot comment specifically about Jack, but as a company that cares deeply about the health and safety of everyone on our shows — especially one like 'Stars Earn Stripes' that requires dangerous water stunts, strenuous physical activity, and uses live ammunition — we required all potential participants to undergo medical vetting to ensure that they could safely participate."

The statement continued, "Although we did not ask Jack to participate in the competition, we were able to offer him two substantial alternative roles on the show, both of which he declined. This network does not discriminate on any basis."

Greenblatt added, "Our hearts go out to her, Ozzy, Jack and his family at this time."

Everyone knows she quit AGT because of money. She can't fool anyone with her "caring mum" act.

I feel bad for Jack. I really do hate to see another obstacle for him but I can also see why NBC would hesitate to put him on the show as a contestant. What other deals is NBC saying they offered him ? Sharon on the other hand, GO AWAY.She sounds like 2 hundred year old hag.

I wouldn't be interested in the show from what I've read about it with or without Jack on it.

How is it discrimination? If he's sick, he can't be on some Wipeout wannabe show!

That kid is the biggest mama's boy I've ever seen. 26 years years old and he's still having his mom fight his battles. What a *****. And you know damn well his wife married him for the money. Sharon's a no talent bitch too. NBC should tell the whole family to go @#$^ themselves.

Why can't NBC just admit that they do not want a person with M.S. handling a gun and ammo? It would be possible that she could accidentally shoot the gun and injure himself or anyone in the vicinity.
PS: Steven Hawking would be turned down because of his physical condition.

Sharon and Jack were using his MS diagnosis to promote this reality show last month on The Talk. It seemed really tacky at the time. Maybe that's why the show's producers didn't want him.

Duh. NBC probably would have taken advantage of better ratings with the disclosure of his illness. She's just a little nutso.

I am feel very sad about his illness but that show is for extremely fit contestants and I bet Jack who is not that fit looking before he was diagnosed did not pass the audition requirements. Sharon and her family make millions in the US but fail to pay their taxes in a timely manner. I think she needs to pay like Americans do. I would like to see Sharon, Ozzie, & the daughter return to England.

I LOVE Sharon, but she is ABSOLUTELY, TOTALLY wrong in this one.

It's also absolutely STUPID to quit your job, BREAK YOUR CONTRACT -- which will keep her off of another talent competition program for the next five years for something like this!

Jack has M.S. which in itself, is extremely demanding physically. There are times when he will have pain that is awful as well as blindness!

This show is NOT what one should use to show that they are fightin back against the disease. He could go out there and seriously hurt himself.

As I said, I love Sharon Osbourne. But she overreacted to this very, very badly.

Sharon Osbourne is incorrect if she thinks reality shows can't screen potential contestants for medical or psychological fitness -- they can, they're liable, and his rejection might have had nothing to do specifically with his M.S. diagnosis.

Aside from that, I'm thrilled this might be the beginning of the end of the Osbournes on TV. The more shows they feel free to trash publicly and walk off of, the less likelihood anyone will bother offering them these cushy jobs again.

I like Sharon and she is obviously trying to be mad at anyone to release the pain and hurt she feels. They were right not to have him on the show due to his health.
