WWE Star BLASTS Nike

for Signing Jon Jones

.... He's a BAD Role Model

8/9/2012 7:40 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF
breaking news

0809_cm_punk_jon_jones_NIKEWWE superstar C.M. Punk is furious with Nike ... claiming the sportswear giant is sending a HORRIBLE message to kids by signing UFC champ Jon "Bones" Jones ... who happens to be a convicted drunk driver.

FYI -- Nike announced it signed Jones to a MAJOR global endorsement deal yesterday ... a deal likely worth millions of dollars.

But moments after the announcement ... WWE champ C.M. Punk unloaded on The Swoosh ... saying, "Let's reward more drunk drivers with endorsement deals! #responsibility."

Punk -- who doesn't drink or smoke -- is referring to Jon's DUI conviction, stemming from a May 19 incident in which Jones drunkenly crashed his Bentley into a utility pole.

Jones apologized for the incident ... and after cutting a deal with prosecutors, his driver's license was suspended for 6 months.

So far, no comment from either Jones or Nike.

Hey Punk what happened to you leaving the soulless organization that exploits just about everyone owned by a guy who hasn't had any integrity since he learned to spell the word? Not to mention has a history of business practices so disgusting it makes Rupert Murdock blush? Guess you took another look at how many 0's were printed on your check and decided they were worth a second look?

My only hope is that Punk never does a thing wrong in life, NOT ONE THING. I'm seriously freakin' tired of this guy popping off about everything and anything that he deems is his right to comment on. Let's not forget that Nike stood by Tiger's side when the crap hit the fan, too bad Punk wasn't a big enough star on his show back then or he could've trashed Tiger all over twitter and blog accounts. I'm sorry, it's one thing to be an everyday human being and commenting on a gossip site. No one takes us seriously, but this guy is a star, in show business, he needs to step back and get off his high horse.
.
Punk, that pedestal you've made for yourself is getting higher and higher, you might want to think about the lack of oxygen you are getting when you continue to build it.

I am Spartacus

Although i do like CM Punk i think he's a little obsessive in this case. Jones made a mistake, you learn from your mistake and move on. Jones is also a guy who, on the morning he had his first ever title match, chased down a man who took a woman's purse.

People do make mistakes and hopefully he learns and doesn't repeat his mistake. Punk should have more of an issue with Kobe getting a Nike deal after admittingly cheating on his wife whether it was actual rape or not.

This is nothing but a stunt to get more attention to the WWE. The WWE is suffering in ratings right now so they're doing everything they can to get some attention back to them. CM punk is playing the rebel, I'm going to do anything and say anything I want character and part of his act is...twittering his feelings. Yea, Twitter. So what CM punk, the industry you're in is being run by a alleged rapist who took steroids and continued a show despite one of the wrestlers dying so shut it please and look at where you're at.

Someone from the WWE should be the last to talk about being a bad influence! What do they teach kids? Nothing but violence, mysogeny, and sexism.
He needs to stfu and get over himself.

His words would hold more sway if he didn't work and support an industry with such a horrific substance abuse problem, but you wont hear Punk say anything negative about THAT and instead be treated to a cacophony of excuses. A DUI is bad, but it was his first offense, no one was hurt, he's apologized, and is getting sentenced in accordance to his crime(which was a misdemeanor by the way) and on top of that DUI's are pretty much routine in the sports world and Nike has sponsored people who have done worse like Kobe(rape) and Vick(dogfighting).
