Joey Kovar

'Real World' Star DEAD

Family Suspects Drugs

8/17/2012 10:20 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Joey Kovar -- the troubled "Real World" star who appeared on "Celebrity Rehab" -- was found dead at a friend's home near Chicago this morning ... and family members believe drugs are to blame ... TMZ has learned.

Kovar was 29 years old.

Kovar's rep tells TMZ ... Joey was discovered by a female friend early this morning who noticed blood coming out of Joey's ears and nose.

The woman called 911 ... and authorities rushed to the scene where he was pronounced dead.

Kovar had famously battled drug issues -- and sought help for cocaine and ecstasy during his stint on "Celeb Rehab."

While on "Real World: Hollywood," Kovar entered rehab halfway through the season for alcohol and drugs, admitting he'd struggled with substance abuse for years. It was a pretty powerful moment on the show.

My prayers go out to his family, sad loss. Sometimes you just can not shake those demons. Prayers for his family though.

You people with your judgments, and cast them not caring who you hurt or even care to recognize it’s a disease. Do you make fun of a cancer patient? It’s a horrible disease that tears families apart. Do you think he wanted to live like that? Before you throw stones know what the hell you’re talking about. IT’S A Disease LIKE CANCER

Mr. Drew is a DIRTY HACK. He should be stopped or at the very least someone needs to file an ethics complaint with the State Medical Board. Are his victims signing a waiver, so he is allowed to violate Hippa Laws and their rights? He is practicing exploiting peoples' pain for his own profit. He took an oath to do no harm, but his patients keep coming up with tags on their toes.

Oh, this is so sad. He was such a nice guy. I was really hoping he would find a way to stay clean. My condolences to his family.

It's a great pity that anyone can succumb to drugs as this guy did, but appearing on a reality show does not make him a star. All it did was make him a created by tv personality.
