Joey Kovar

'Real World' Star DEAD

Family Suspects Drugs

8/17/2012 10:20 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF

Joey Kovar -- the troubled "Real World" star who appeared on "Celebrity Rehab" -- was found dead at a friend's home near Chicago this morning ... and family members believe drugs are to blame ... TMZ has learned.

Kovar was 29 years old.

Kovar's rep tells TMZ ... Joey was discovered by a female friend early this morning who noticed blood coming out of Joey's ears and nose.

The woman called 911 ... and authorities rushed to the scene where he was pronounced dead.

Kovar had famously battled drug issues -- and sought help for cocaine and ecstasy during his stint on "Celeb Rehab."

While on "Real World: Hollywood," Kovar entered rehab halfway through the season for alcohol and drugs, admitting he'd struggled with substance abuse for years. It was a pretty powerful moment on the show.

You people have not clue what is true. Joe Kovar has been clean. His family has not told you any different and this report should be removed.

first of all there might have been blood coming out of his ears and nose but drugs dont cause blood to come out of your ears. the only thing that causes blood to come out of the ears is a blow to the head. Someone probably gave him some kind of head trama. So get the facts straight before posting stuff that your not sure of.

Throwback kid

I have no words for this, I guess I can sum it up best in a poem

Dr Drew is his name and death is his game

If you go on his show you are making a blunder

Within a few months you will be six feet under

You can't blame anyone but Joey. Dislike this if you want but that's the truth. The addiction took over and he couldn't help himself. it's as simple as that.

So from what I'm reading it's Dr. Drew who is the problem? it's not, he is trying to help people but he can't MAKE them stop using durgs, I'm a substance abuse counselor and it is heart breaking when you try everything to help, but they still use.

it's easy to quit drugs. First you quit hanging around all your loser friends who use drugs. Then you stop buying drugs. And finally, you find a positive goal in your life. There Dr. Drew!! and i didnt charge a cent for this valuable, life saving information.

ok....cant really blame doc drew for this one. if youve ever been to rehab or read any information on it,for that matter, you would know that more than half are likely to relapse. especially when they really go to further their time in the public eye. it is sad but true. i am a recovering alcoholic(and i did some dope too as any true addict pretty much takes what they can get). i had almost 7 years sober, fell off the wagon for a year and a half or more and now am 2 months shy of 3 years sober again. he most undoubtedly was not ready to quit and either way you look at it, its sad. i feel for his friends and family, but a shock or dr. drews fault,i think not. it never ceases to amaze me the amount of people who want to blame everyone but the user. this 'man' had been wearing his big boy pants for a long time and honestly KNEW what could happen and he kept using. sooooo.....dont blame anyone but kovar for this tragedy. and that is what this is.
