Ryan Lochte
's annoying catchphrase "Jeah!" is a friggin' GOLD MINE -- at least that's what the swimmer believes ... because he just filed docs to lock up a trademark for the made-up word.

According to the trademark docs,  Ryan wants to use the word on sunglasses, workout DVDs, gift cards, mugs, drinking glasses, trading cards, calendars, posters, swimsuits, swim caps, sports hats, and water bottles.

In fact, Lochte's already getting the party started on his website -- selling "Jeah"-themed tees, hats, and sunglasses.

0816_ryan_lochte_jeahAccording to a 2009 interview, Ryan got the phrase from rapper Young Jeezy, who uses a similar word "Chea!" in his songs. Ryan says he changed it a little to "Jeah!" ... and says it means something "good." (skip to 1:00)

The trademark app is still pending.

The more this guy opens his mouth the more I'm starting to find him an annoying ass-hat. I'm glad he won the gold but he's starting to look like a boob.

How do you trademark a JEAH when rappers like MC Eiht (no g) and rappers from the West coast has been using this word. It is not new. Check out Straight up menace song he says it all through the song.

He didn't make that up. I forsee many lawsuits if he tries to trademark. Looks like he's biting more than he can chew.

...if he successfully trademarks that phrase, I think a bulletin should be released stating that he's officially lost his hip-hop pass - and Paul Wall should be the one who reads it to him. That phrase has been out (and manipulated) since the early 90's. MC Eiht made it dope, Jay-Z used the HELL out of it, etc, etc. People will always use it, and it has NOTHING to do with this guy. That's like....that's like Michael Phelps trying to trademark "word up", smh. Actually, he he gets it trademarked, someone should trademark "Lochte" and use it as derogatory slang.

Is this a wrong spelling of "yeah" or a word pronounced "gee-uh?" I clearly don't get out much. If this is yeah spelled wrong, perhaps he is a doosh?
